FEMCA got in touch with us to let everyone know of the Warmup race that is taking place for the IFMAR 1/8th scale gas on road World Championships in Japan. The event will be held from the 20th to the 26th of May at the Kei Tune Racing Speedway in Tuchiu Ichihara Chiba, host of the main event in October. For foreign entrants, the deadline for entry is the 30th of April and you can find more information here.
T.O.P. Racing now offers a new 6 wheeler conversion kit for the Rebel R-F01 Formula One car. It is a new class, legal for some race regulations. All you need is to get are 2 pairs of 12th scale front tires and a Tamiya body shell. It’s fun and drives like a touring car and both sets of front suspension are independently adjustable including springs, caster angle, upper dive angle, toe angle, camber angle, camber link geometry and even Ackerman. This kit is pre-released to factory team drivers while the production version shown in the pictures will be released in the near future.

Hobby Expo 2013 and MicroRC.ru have announced the second running of their large international indoor off-road event, the Russian Gran-Prix 2013. The event will be held in Moscow from the 19th to the 21st of April and the carpet covered track is 30X18 meters. Specially designed for this event, which has so far attracted 170 entries, there are still places available so if you are interested you can enter. The race will feature top racers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Finland to battle it out in 9 electric classes covering OffRoad 1:18, OffRoad 1:10, OffRoad 1:8. LRP in Germany have announced that current British National Touring Car Champion Olly Jefferies has joined Sanwa. The factory Associated race who is also reigning 1/12th scale National will run the Sanwa Exzes-X 2.4GHz stick radio and SDX-801 low profile servo in his rides. He had this to say about the deal:

VRC Pro have introduced their new event structure with virtual opponents. With this new mode they introduce the possibility to challenge yourself to race while opponents from your own heat or final are also on the track so you can now experience exactly the same sensations and pressure you experience in your real r/c racing. You may ask ‘why not multi-player events then?’ Multi-player requires you and your opponents to all race together, at exactly the same time. If we had no time zones that would be less of a problem, but we have. As much as 12 to 15 hours time difference makes it practically impossible to organize multi-player competitions on a world wide scale. By introducing ‘virtual opponents’ we have come up with a solution that is almost as good. The opponents are actually selected from your own heat or main final. They may have raced a few hours before you but with this mode we can still bring all these runs together as if you are all at the track at the same time.

Xray have announced that Marco Kaufmann has joined their factory world racing team. Marco is a young talented driver who has showed in the last years excellent results and permanent growth. Marco and Xray have joined the forces for the 2013 season to achieve the best possible race results at German and international events. Marco will race the T4 platform and will participate all major international races and he had this to say:
I have been racing with Xray since I have started to drive RC Cars. I choose Xray because the quality and performance are both perfect. I am very proud to represent this finest company and to be part of the Xray world racing team. I’m looking forward to great and successful future. In 2013 I will concentrate mainly on 1/10 electric touring modified class and I hope some more great results will come.

Picco are reporting that Mike Swauger dominated the 2013 Airtronics race in Southern California in both 1/8th and 1/10th scale with Picco EMX Power engines. The talent that came to the Airtronics race is a show case of what the Nationals is going to be like with some of the best drivers in the USA coming to do battle. Mike TQ’d the 1/8th class and won by 2 laps over Paolo Morganti and won the sedan class ahead of DJ Apolaro. Robert Morris took the win the Sportsman class also using Picco engines.
