JConcepts Stackers and Black Jackets tires

JConcepts Stackers and Black Jackets tires

JConcepts have introduced two new tires for 1/8th offroad, the Stackers and Black Jackets. The Stackers is a culmination of successful DNA from the highly popular Hybrids and Crowbars tire tread patterns which reveals a heavy center lug design which is supported at the lower base with extra rib features and tiny fillets which provide a heavy forward gripping force. Directional slashes cut into the tread soften the lugs to absorb bumps and also increase the lug flexibility to accommodate loose conditions. The Black Jackets, constructed from very small square pins, provide additional grip on loose conditions with a light amount of dust and debris across the surface. The tread spacing near the outside rows are slightly open allowing maximum flexibility to adhere to smooth and slick surfaces providing a reasonable flex contact patch. The crisp center bar construction provides a wall-like pattern of tread which provides additional forward bite and also resists some high-expansion wear associated with typical small pin tires.

Sinclair & Noia win Tennessee Indoor Champs

Sinclair & Noia win Tennessee Indoor State Champs

Thunder R/C hosted the Tennessee Indoor State Championship last weekend to wrap up the R/C year in Nashville, Tenn. The track is small by U.S. indoor standards, but the lay-out was challenging and interesting; a good test for the Championship. X-Factory drivers took home the hardware in Mod Buggy, Mod Truck, and Pro2 Short Course. X-Teamers Dan Reino and Paul Sinclair qualified 1-2 in buggy, and that’s how they ran the first few laps, pulling out a small lead on the field two minutes into the six minute race Reino got it sideways landing the triple in front of the drivers’ stand, and Sinclair shot through on the right side into the lead.  Dan collected it up, but Paul was gone.  In the last minute Reino put on a stirring charge, but Paul stayed cool to nail down the win in a 1-2 finish for X Factory X-6 Squareds were in the A main.

Ellis Stafford joins Team Durango

Ellis Stafford joins Team Durango

Team Durango have announced that multiple European and UK Champion, Ellis Stafford, will be racing Team Durango buggies from the 2013 season onwards. Ellis has been racing at the highest level for more than twenty years, and in his career he has achieved some outstanding results. To be so consistent over so many years at the top level of RC racing is testament to Ellis’s talent and limitless knowledge about RC car set-up. Ellis had the following to say:

Having watched Team Durango cars for a few years now it’s clear that the company has got racing at the heart of it, as well as making great products for the customers. The 4WD buggy (DEX410V3) speaks for itself with its speed around the track. I am really looking forward to getting stuck-in with the car to complete the only challenge that I have not managed to win in the UK, the outdoor National title, along with hopefully many other titles. The 2WD buggy (DEX210) with its mid/rear motor layout is going to suit any track that we will visit and, again, I am excited to work with the team to pull the most out of the car, to get some titles back in the 2WD class as well.

Corally SGX gear diff

Corally SGX gear diff

Corally have introduced their new SGX gear diff for the HMX M1 which they claim offers efficiency superior to any other other gear diff. Conventional gear diffs run on inefficient straight bevel gears which drops in performance as the loads increase as they tend to bind resulting in an unstable car on corner exit. The SGX diff offers consistent uninterrupted diff action providing maximum traction and control. They also offer an optional configuration of the diff that allows it to be used with other touring cars such as Tamiya or Hot Bodies.
