Team Associated sent us a brief update to say that their team driver Ryan Maifield had TQ’d the ROAR electric 1/8th buggy Nationals taking place this weekend in Nor-Cal Hobbies in California. Ryan lines up his Reedy powered RC8Be on the grid ahead of Jesse Robbers and Austin Blair, while in the electric truck class it is Mike Truhe in front ahead of Austin Blair and Jesse Robbers.

New from Castle Creations is this 1/10 Sidewinder SCT System. Featuring a ROAR SCT legal 3600kV Castle 1410 Y brushless motor with four magnets on the rotor giving a 20% increase in torque over most other motors in this class with only two magnets, perfect for 2WD & 4WD 1/10 scale short course trucks. The Sidewinder SCT electronic speed control features proportional brake, reverse with lockout and programmable low voltage cutoff with with Auto LiPo Detect set as default. Motor and ESC are wired together-no connectors needed.
Spec-R have released the new version of their 40T gear differential for the Yokomo BD5. Made with a lightweight plastic housing, nylon gears, long-life diff joints, it includes the new 0.2mm internal shim and X ring. Benefits of running this type of differential is the reduced maintenance, lack of slipping and that the setting remains unchanged during the race.
LRP have introduced this 11.1V 4300mAh 40C hard case LiPo. It features the same dimensions as standard 6-cell Sub C battery packs and fits in 1/8th monster trucks and all standard 1/10th scale on road and off road cars. The hard case also features some vertical standard Sub C cell bulges to securely fit standard Sub C pre-cutted chassis. It sports 4mm gold connectors, connectible from both sides, and a 2mm balancing connector for the balancing port.

TOP Racing team driver Dustin Layne won the Stock class at the IIC in Las Vegas. Dustin was on a TQ run in the last round of qualifying until he experienced radio problems with only 30 seconds to go. He ended up qualifying 2nd but made the best of it in the main and pulled off the win. In the Super Stock class EJ Evans finished 4th behind Hara, Haynes, and Tessman. TOP Racing also wanted to congratulate privateer Jerry Perez for winning the Amateur 17.5 class. Jerry piloted his Photon to the win from 6th on the grid in what was a though battle, but Jerry drove clean and consistent to emerge victorious. Inaugurated last year, the amateur class is for the pure privateer drivers and they are not allowed to have manufacturer stickers on their car, nor are they allowed to wear manufacturers apparel.

Schumacher have announced the the release of this new steel idler gear upgrade for the CAT SX & SX2. Providing longer life than the original plastic CNC gears, with more running between rebuilds, there is now also a larger range of gearing options, especially helpful for stock racing. The slipper now locates on the spur side and has easier access than before. The arrangement is sold as standard with 33T and 22T, slightly different than the kit standard 33T/23T, therefore gear ratios should be adjusted accordingly. 31T/24T, 32T/23T, 34T/21T & 35T/20T are also mountable with the use of industry standard 48dp gears.

Serpent have introduced a new radio-box for the Serpent S811 Cobra, offering a solution for the brake-throttle servo issues, by placing the throttle-brake servo much further forward. Today’s modern generation of digital servos don’t seem durable enough to absorb the hard bumps which occur after landing/jumps and as too many drivers had issues with this, they have come up with this solution. This upgrade set will be offered free of charge to all Serpent Cobra owners and dealers and distributors with Cobra S811 kits in stock, will also receive a free upgrade set for the stock they carry. Having teased their new short course truck a while back, Durango have released the first official images of the DESC410R. Central weight distribution and low centre of gravity, even more important with the high bodies of SC trucks, it features a super stiff chassis assembly, big bore shocks, captive CVD’s, optimised gear ratio, 550 motor compatible. Expect it to hit the shops mid December.
