Exotek 8ight-XE aluminium optionals

Coming from Exotek is a range of aluminium optionals for the TLR 8ight-XE 1/8th scale electric buggy. First up is a cooling motor mount whose 7075 alloy construction offers improved motor cooling because the stock rubber gaskets are removed therefore allowing the motor heat to directly transfer through the mounts and into the chassis. In addition, a fan bar is included that attaches to the motor mounts allowing the use of a high powered 40mm cooling fan. The new universal 1/8th scale motor clamping style also makes for easier motor install and removal by simply removing the two upper clamps to lift the motor right up and out. Lastly the motor position has been lowered by 1.5mm for a lower centre of gravity.

Futaba HPS CT700 high-performance servo

German Futaba distributors ACT Europe have introduced the new HPS CT700 high-performance servo. Featuring a machined all-metal case and all-metal gears, the servo was designed especially for the use in RC cars where the efficient HPS brushless motor ensures a cooler running servo and less power consumption. Offering a speed of down to 0.07s and a torque of up to 30kg-cm the servo measures 40.5 x 21.0 x 26.2mm and it weighs in at 54g. It is Furaba S.Bus2 and SR-Mode compatible, allowing to use the fastest transmission modes on the Futaba T7XC, T7PX and T4PM radios. Toms Pukitis wins at Estonian EP Off-road Nats Rd2

Round 2 of Estonian 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the newly built Saue HOBI zone off-road track. The small and technical track would prove to be challenging even for the best drivers that Latvia and Estonia had to offer. In qualifying, Team Associated driver Reimo Kosk would take the TQ in front of the Xray duo of Toms Pukitis and Juri Ressar. They were followed closely by Andreas Tolpt and Tonis Lattik. Reimo would go on to win A1 in a tense fight with Toms, the young man would hit back in A2, leaving a full on shootout for A3. In the middle of the race however Reimo would face technical issues, leaving the door open for Toms to take the overall win from Reimo in 2nd and Juri Ressar in 3rd.

Xray XB4 2020 1/10th 4WD buggy kit

Xray have introduced the 2020 variant of their IFMAR World Championship winning XB4 1/10th 4WD electric buggy kit. The popular vehicle underwent some sort of a redesign for the new season with a longer chassis making for improved stability while a more narrow design in the bulkhead area allows the use of optional longer arms. The gearboxes also saw an update, making them more narrow to make way for the new narrow suspension mounts and thus updated arm positions. A rear gearbox raiser plate improved the gearbox’s position when running in high-bite track conditions and inside the bulkheads operate redesigned gear differentials with larger oil volume, resulting in more consistent performance over a run. Part of the new diff package are also separate new-module crown gears and composite diff covers for better serviceability and a lower weight. Also new in the driveline area are new module crown gears for more efficient operation as well as centre driveshafts with larger 2.5mm cross pins. New, longer front and rear outer driveshafts, an updated motor mount for easier pinion gear access as well as an all-new centre upper graphite brace and a shorter slipper assembly with a wider adjustment range round out the drivetrain package. Other features include new aluminium roll centre mounts on rear uprights with updated roll centre positions, a revised rear graphite shock tower can be mounted from both sides of the gearbox to fine-tune the shock setup weight balance, and reinforced servo saver stands make for improved steering precision while a new shape improves clearance. The kit is rounded out by an improved servo mount system to optimise steering consistency in high traction conditions. The kit has already shipped and should be available by the time you read this.
