Reds Racing VX3 competition brushless motor

Following a first teaser image Reds Racing have fully unveiled their new VX3 540-size electric brushless motor. The 2-pole motor is of a new internal structure design with a higher quality precision balanced Neodymium high-temperature rotor that improves power and torque noticeably compared to the Gen 2 motor. It also incorporates copper wires and low resistance collector rings that allow for a very low internal resistance and thus greater power supply and less heat build-up. To this adds an improved cooling system with the unique VX3 housing being designed to guarantee optimised heat dissipation and maximised cooling. The motor will become available as 4.5T to 8.5T modified as well as 10.5T to 25.5T stock class motors, the latter will see the addition of a special 13.5T high-torque variant.

Performa P1 120A brushless controller

Performa Racing are busy adding more brushless speed controllers to their range of high-performance products with the latest being the P1 120A controller. Rated at 120A and usable with sensored or sensorless motors, the 2S to 4S LiPo-compatible controller is ideal for lightweight 1/8th scale buggies as well as 1/10th scale short course and monster trucks. The high-quality hardware allows for a small 48x35mm footprint and a low weight of only 121g. A switchable 6V/7.4V BEC system gives enough performance even for power-hungry high-voltage servos and advanced programming allows to fine-tune the ESC to a wide range of track conditions. The controller is housed in a machined aluminium case for improved heat dissipation and it comes pre-wired with black cables ensuring a professional factory look.

Tamiya F104 Type 2017 lightweight body shell

Coming from Tamiya is the lightweight variant of their popular F104 Type 2017 body shell. Featuring a low and narrow nose section as well as separate details such as barge boards or side pods, the 1/10th scale formula body also allows to cut away the lower part of the side pontoon to further narrow and lower the body. Also included are a moulded driver helmet and double-sided tape. The body is moulded from lightweight 0.8mm polycarbonate which will greatly lower the overall centre of gravity compared to the standard 1.0mm body shell.

Mark Young wins at RugRacers Rd3

Round 3 of the popular RugRacers electric on-road series was held in Herts, UK last weekend. The race saw the running of Touring Stock, FWD and MTC classes and the latter had Mark Young taking the FTQ and pole position for the 2-leg final. Leg 1 saw most of the field squabbling at the start and by the end of the race Mark was a quarter of a lap in front of 2nd place so it was a comfortable win for him. Leg 2 saw a much cleaner start than leg 1 and after five minutes with all but one lap being under 12 seconds Mark took an easy win, practically a lap in front of the 2nd place driver. Behind Mark it was Josh Moore on the runner-up spot as Jack Anderson came in 3rd to round out the top result.

Performa P1 Controller 150A ESC

Performa Racing’s P1 150A Sensor/Sensorless Controller was developed to deliver unmatched power, performance and reliability for demanding 1/8th scale racing applications. Built with high quality components and loaded with cutting edge firmware, the 150A-rated 2S to 6S LiPo-compatible ESC will protect itself from damage due to abuse, overuse, and even human error. With a high power output and adjustable parameters, the controller delivers the smooth throttle response and linear throttle/brake control even in demanding racing conditions. It also features an integrated HV BEC with 4 Amp output current, and adjustable output voltage from 6 to 8.4V. The Performa cooling technology utilises heat conductive copper bars to rapidly and effectively transfer all internal heat from the MosFET board to the integrated CNC machined billet aluminium heatsink housing. The cooling fan utilises a shock proof mounting system that reduces the possibility of fan damage due to the repeated shock of landing jumps in an 1/8 scale off road environment. The speedo also features an electronic switch, allowing settings from an integrated button while even easier programming is accessible using an optional programming box.
