Myron Kinnard wins at ROAR Region 5 Carpet Champs

The city of Cincy, Ohio played host to the ROAR Region 5 Carpet Championship recently. The race was held in several electric on-road classes and after Friday’s practice, Saturday morning brought on the three rounds of qualifying that would result in Myron “Battman” Kinnard (Team Associated) holding two of the three classes’ TQ at the end of the day. As Sunday rolled around the drivers were given a last-chance qualifier before the mains. Battman held on to his TQ in VTA from Mike Collins (Team Associated) 2nd and Jeff Mobley (Awesomatix) in 3rd. For the single 8-minute A-main, the grid was set and the tone was rung, and racers were laying down their fastest laps of the weekend. By the time the tone rang, Myron took 1st place in front of Mike 2nd, a lap down, and Jeff 3rd, another lap down.

2020 Nuremberg Toy Fair – Tamiya

The 2020 Nuremberg International Toy Fair kicked off today. Formerly known as the most important fair when it comes to everything toys and radio control, this importance has took some knocks during the last decade down to a situation that only a handful of big players are daring the annual trip to Germany’s “toy city” to present their forthcoming new products. One of them however is Tamiya who show some nice new kits – but nothing really race-worthy to be frank. Certainly a crowdpleaser is the forthcoming GF-01CB Comical Avante buggy, the latest addition to Tamiya’s popular Comical buggy line-up.

Xray Racing Series Australia Rd1 – Report

The 2020 XRS Australia kicked off with a bang and 40 degree temperatures for the day in western Sydney, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Just on 50 entries is a great start to the XRS, considering the Whalan Club has minimal members, it was great to see the local clubs supporting the event. In Modified, Xray’s Ari Bakla took the win ahead Yokomo’s John Puse and ARC’s Lionel Saunders.

ZooRacing BAYBEE 190mm touring car body shell

ZooRacing have introduced their new BAYBEE touring car body shell for 190mm chassis. The lid is basically an evolution of the ultra-popular DBX with a comparable roof line and design, however the slightly stretched roof reduces aerodynamic drag, resulting in higher corning speeds, something especially stock class racers will be looking for. New for the BAYBEE is also a longer and rounder front end shape for increased corner speeds under power, allowing for precise handling especially in larger corners while reducing tyre scrub at the same time which further helps to maintain high speeds and smooth cornering. All this comes without sacrificing low-speed steering with the BAYBEE offering razor-sharp steering response in technical parts of the track. Compared to the already low-profile appearance of the DBX, the BAYBEE features a once more lowered shoulder line, hood and trunk section allowing to substantially to mount the body lower on the chassis, resulting in a once more lowered overall centre of gravity. Part of the package is also a redesigned High Efficient rear wing that is of a curved design, following the new rear end shape which results in an even more efficient air flow between body shell and wing. Other aerodynamic features include redesigned side skirts for optimised airflow and further improved stability while reinforcement ribbing on the trunk ensure best possible rigidity even under heavy loads as they occur in today’s modified class racing. Last but not least comes the realistic front end design that not only makes for a cool new look but the sculptured hood design is also meant to improve airflow and overall stability and durability of the body shell.
