Absima Summer Championship Rd3 – Report

The Absima Summer Championship returned to the slopes of Coastal Model Car Racing Club in Ipswich, along with the sunshine which bathed the tracks and gave them awesome grip. It was 4WD up first in qualifying and it was Stuart Collard who headed up the field from HB Racing team mate Chris Pennington and the third HB of Graham Kisby dominating qualifying, from Jason Burroughs with his Schumacher in 4. In 2WD it was again Stuart Collard who would take the pole this time with his Team Associated car, from the Yokomo of George Fairweather and the Schumacher of Kristian Gibbs. In the Tamiyas it was Steven Vanhisbergh who had a clear grid ahead of him from a hard charging Matthew Gant and the M05 of Les woods in 3rd. A bumper grid of Touring Cars saw the return of winter champion Byron Russell line up on the pole, from another returnee Simon Lovett, and current championship leader Jason Scott.

X-Grip Conveyor cooling fan mount

European X-Grip distributors Mikimodel have introduced the Conveyor cooling fan mount. The 3-D-printed part is made of carbon reinforced material and it weighs in at only 5g, hardly changing the overall weight balance of the chassis. A trick clip takes the fan’s JST connector for a more tidy look and the mount’s design will reduce the operation temperatures of the motor by about ten degrees. The mount is usable with most motor cooling fans.

Element RC Enduro trail truck builder’s kit

Element RC have announced the release of their Enduro trial truck builder’s kit – the build-it-yourself variant of the newly introduced Enduro trail truck series. At the heart of the Enduro is the new Stealth X gearbox. Although the exterior appears to have a conventional 3-gear transmission look, the inside is far from conventional. The gearbox features the ability to adjust the rear drive ratio independently from the front drive in three levels. Stock overdrives the front end 5.7 percent, option 1 provides a one-to-one drive ratio front to rear, and option 2 overdrives the front end 11.83 percent. Feeding the power to the tires are 3-piece telescopic driveshafts with an extruded aluminium centre section, universal front drive axles, and hardened steel ring and pinion gears. For the Builder’s Kit, Element RC include machined steel versions of the 5.7 percent and 11.83 percent transmission gears. The truck will allow for different wheelbase configurations of 12.3, 12.0 and 11.8-inch (313mm, 305mm and 299mm) wheelbases and it comes as chassis-only kit with the electronics, wheels, tyres, body etc. not included.

VSR Products have announced the release of their new 3-D-printed battery protector for the TLR 8ight-XE 1/8th scale electric buggy kit.
