Belgian Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

Round 5 of the Belgian nationals was held at the track of MRG Genk. This track is situated in a motorsport nirvana with a karting and MX track nearby. Because of the dust from the MX track, the grip is low to medium. As it started raining on Saturday already, the grip levels were even lower. Most front runners were already testing their cars on Saturday, because rain was forecasted at least until A-main 2 on Sunday.

The 2019 EFRA 1/10th Nitro European Championships were held last week at the Mini Car Club Turkheim track in the south of Germany. Qualifying would see complete domination from Serpent driver Dominic Greiner, the former World Champion taking all rounds of qualifying at what is his home track to secure the pole position for the 45 minute main final. Behind the German, Dario Balestri was the best of the rest, the Infinity driver heading the Mugen of fellow 1/8th World Champion Robert Pietsch with the Xray of Alessio Mazzeo and Shepherd of Patrick Nahr completing the top 5, those 4 drivers going into super pole. Rebellion-RC TC7.2 MM mid-motor chassis conversion kit

RC-Carbonstore from Austria have announced the release of their Rebellion-RC MM mid-motor chassis conversion kit for the Team Associated TC7.2 touring car. The main feature of the upgrade set is the patent pending sliding motor mount design that allows gear mesh adjustment through the chassis bottom, with the narrow design of the whole assembly ensuring the overall motor and battery width remains the same as in the “rear motor” standard car, creating a very centralised weight distribution and less unwanted chassis roll compared to current mid motor conversions. In addition the design makes for an ultra low centre of gravity while allowing integrated flex settings via up to seven motor mount screws. The sliding design also ensures a very wide gear mesh adjustment range, fitting up to 48T pinion and 114T main gears, making the conversion ideal for both stock and modified racing. The final specification of the kit now also incorporates two chassis stiffness adjustment areas that allow to brace the upper and lower deck in front of the rear bulkhead, and in front of the centre shaft – allowing to access complex chassis flex settings. The updated front chassis shape – compared to the original TC7.2 chassis – also perfectly fits the TC7.2’s composite front bumper for better support, protection and looks. Other features include the possibility to combine all three aluminium colour options of black, orange and natural with Rebellion-RC’s full range of carbon fibre twill colours. Not to be forgotten is a floating motor fan mount that attaches to the motor mount and that can be used with standard 30mm and 40mm fan units while not disturbing natural chassis flex. Included with the kit, that is completely made in Austria, also come high-quality Bando Kevlar belts as well as all needed screws and bearings. Not included however is the necessary Xray off-set main gear. Coming soon for the TC7.2 MM chassis conversion is also Rebellion-RC’s Cross-Flex aluminium main chassis that allows to further adapt the car to a range of track conditions by changing out brass or carbon fibre chassis inserts.

GL Racing GLA-V2 narrow brass chassis

Made for the GL Racing’s GLA-V2 micro car is a narrow brass chassis set. The main plate weighs in at about 25g versus the 5g of the original chassis, improving the car’s stability while also countering traction rolling. In addition the narrow design ensures the chassis is less likely for scrubbing in corners, ensuring a smoother, more efficient ride. Two sets of battery mounting holes allow to adjust overall weight balance while two optional pouch of carbon fibre can be used to adjust chassis width if needed. A black surface coating prevents the brass material from corroding while gold-colour edge details add visual impact.

Rebellion-RC Cross-Flex MM aluminium chassis kit

Listening to customer demands, RC-Carbonstore have announced the soon release of the all-new Rebellion-RC Cross-Flex aluminium chassis for their MM mid-motor touring car conversion kits. Of an ultra-low centre of gravity and adjustable flex design the main plate offers basically three chassis in one as it allows to adjust the overall flex to a wide range of track conditions thanks to interchangeable inserts that are held in place using M1x2mm screws. The highly machined herringbone design chassis can be equipped with brass inserts for running in high to very high-bite conditions, lighter and more flexible carbon fibre inserts make for a softer chassis for medium traction conditions and running the chassis without any inserts gives the most amount of flex for lower grip tracks. Mixing and matching the inserts and using more or less screws for fastening also allows to adjust the car’s weight bias and flex in certain areas. Testing of the new design is already underway and the main plate kits, that will become available for Rebellion-RC’s T4, TC7.2 and BD9/BD8 mid-motor chassis conversion kits will be up for grabs in about three weeks’ time.

2019 Speed King Tour Rd4 – Report

Round 4 of the 2019 Speed King Tour was held at the NEXT circuit in the Chiba prefecture recently. Thanks to being located quite close to the Narita International Airport the race was easy to reach for drivers from far away and another plus was the quite new and very smooth surface that made for a lot of high-speed battles throughout the field. Classes run this time were Touring Modified and Touring Stock with the Oval category being scrapped this time due to the track layout. Yokomo driver Hayato Ishioka showed his speed right from the free practice on and he took the TQ in all three qualifying rounds of Touring Modified. Hayato also clocked the fastest lap time in the “Super Lap” session for the top 5 qualifiers to take the pole position for the single A-main.
