Neumann top seed in China as CP2 proves slower

Joern Neumann is the top seed at the 1:10 4WD Offroad World Championships in China.  Having topped the opening round of controlled practice held in the middle of the day under natural daylight, the German’s time stood as drivers failed to go quicker under flood lights in CP2. With the 2013 Worlds Top Qualifier setting a best time of 1:13.601 first time round, the best time for the second run would be a 1:14.945 which was set by HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk.  With Neumann breaking after 3-minutes, the German would end up 6th fastest for CP2 with the only improvement in the Top 17 times coming from Ryan Maifield. After a rough CP1 the Yokomo driver set the second fastest time to Ronnefalk to secure a spot in the top heat for qualifying as the 7th fastest driver. Naoto Matsukura backed up his opening P2 pace with a P3 for the second round remaining the second seed although the actual Q1 starting order for each reseeded heat grouping will be determined in CP3 tomorrow morning.

Flash Point 12mm brass 1/10th shock pistons

Flash Point R/C have announced the new 12mm Brass 1/10th shock pistons. Tested and developed with newly crowned 2017 IFMAR World Champion Ryan Maifield, the pistons feature a flat profile, with tapered holes to provide faster rebound. The increased weight of brass piston will slow down the shock shaft speed, resulting in smoother easy to drive feeling over bumpy surfaces. Drivers will notice the vehicle is easier to drive and has a plusher feel over a wider range of surfaces which will provide drivers with the confidence to pushed harder over broken surfaces and improve jumping and landing. The 12mm diameter pistons are available as 2-hole x 1.5mm or 3-hole x 1.3mm option that come in sets of four.

Reds Racing introduce updated 4-shoe clutch

Reds Racing have introduced their updated 4-shoe off-road clutch system. Developed to make the engine power output smoother and more linear, the clutch will also provide exceptional traction, vehicle driveability and low fuel consumption. The updated clutch features three preload adjustments on the front plate to fit any type of surface and engine output. Drivers can change the spring preload on the front plate from a high, medium or low position and choose between 1.0mm or optional 1.1mm springs. Additional XH and XXH front plates have been specifically developed for the truggy class and available only as option parts. The new hybrid 7075 aluminium and carbon clutch shoes have been redesigned to increase wear resistance and in addition, the new shoes are lighter, to allow for and engage at higher revs and lower inertia to rotation. The clutch can be used in standard dual aluminium and carbon shoe configuration for most tracks or as triple aluminium and single carbon setup for high grip conditions. In addition, Reds have also introduced new 32mm and 34mm low inertia flywheels as option as the set comes with a medium inertia flywheel from standard.
