Gualtiero Picco (1940 – 2011)

Gualtiero Picco (1940 - 2011)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of the RC Industry’s pioneers, Mr. Gualtiero Picco. The man behind Picco Micromotori, the company he started in the early 80’s, passed away yesterday following a long illness, he was 71. Best known for the engines that carried his name, it was Gualtiero’s passion and constant drive to develop that has, in no small part, shaped the design and configuration of modern day RC engines. A long time Tether car enthusiast, he holds the current World record which he set in 2009 in the WMCR V class, getting his ‘car’ up to a speed of 344 kmh. He is survived by his wife Marisa and two sons Alberto and Edoardo, who carry on the running of the Picco company. Red RC would like to express our condolences to the Picco family.

Olivier Bultynck takes Rd2 victory in Belgian

Round 2 of the Belgian touring car nationals was held in Zwevegem on the local outdoor track last weekend. Not a permanent track but the club MRCZ did a good job with the lay-out  for the event. Local driver Thomas Stockman was the designer of this lay-out and made himself this way as the man to beat. Qualifying in the EFRA class saw Olivier Bultynck take the pole position ahead of Stockman in 2nd and Nick Joosens in 3rd. In the final this battle would continue with Corally man Bultynck eventually taking the win victory in leg 1 and 2 to finish in front ahead of Xray driver Stockman in 2nd and Joosens with the Yokomo in 3rd.
