RS5 T15 1/5th scale Touring car

RS5 Modelsport introduce the follow up in their successful line of 1/5th scale touring cars, the T15. With a recent push to use ultra soft compound front tires, this new car has been developed with, among many other things, additional setup options to help tune out front mechanical grip if needed. A weight distribution change to increase the rear end grip of the car they created new wishbones that are offset to the front. With this modification the complete centre part of the car has been offset rearwards creating an more rear heavy car, without adding any extra weight. On the alloy chassis under the rear differential there are now 4 threaded holes to allow the user to mount additional weights to the car in this beneficial position.

Capricorn LAB C802 1/8th scale chassis

Capricorn have released the follow up to their successful C801 chassis, the LAB C802 is a natural evolution and was in use at the recent 1/8th Euros where it got both cars in the top 4 with Dario Balestri taking the title. Access to the car’s transmission has been made easier with the a new front assembly meaning that is now possible to change both the front and rear belts in less than 15 minutes. The famous 0,8 transmission which inspired the other constructors as it was able to give more traction and handling remains unchanged as does the reverse clutch with ultralight bell. The radio plate is completely new and uses a traditional position for the throttle servo while the floating front mount works on ball bearings, and by simply fastening or removing 2 screws it is now possible to activate the FF2 system (Full Flex System).

New World Champion to be crowned in Japan

New World Champion to be crowned in Japan

1:8 Onroad is set to crown a new World Champion this week with the news that reigning World Champion Robert Pietsch has not made the trip to Japan for the 18th running of IFMAR’s longest running World Championships.  The German has been forced to miss the chance to defend his title due to being struck down with pneumonia.  Having attended the Warm-up Race at the Keitune Racing Speedway back in May, the Mugen driver struggled while fellow Mugen driver & World title favourite Takaaki Shimo using O.S. dominated with many rumours circulating since then that Novarossi were struggling to get their engines to suit the specialised track.  Having received an e-mail along with a medical cert from Pietsch, his fuel sponsor Jarb Ratanarat of Maxima said its a real shame the strong advocate of onroad nitro racing can’t attend as he feels despite his showing at the Warm-up race  he believes he would have had a real chance at a second title.

BMT is returning to the 1/8th scale on road market after a break of many years, the former World Championship winning manufacturer has not been heard of much, with the exception of its entry into the Rally Game market, since the late 90s. The new BMT 894, the car in the photos is a prototype, is a pretty standard affair for a modern 1/8th scale car with some of the features including aluminium front & rear bulkheads, aluminium middle shaft bracket and a front anti roll-bar with classic blades or wire solution. The transmission uses a 0.8 module to improve acceleration and top speed, while on the radio plate it features a flex system and a radio tray module for both lay down servos and receiver including a RX box.

Xray 2013 spec RX8 1/8th scale chassis

Xray 2013 spec RX8 1/8th scale chassis

Xray have released details on their 2013 spec RX8 1/8th scale on road chassis. The car features a number of major changes, as well as some refinements, including the all new fuel tank with interior baffles for stable engine performance. Other new parts, and something that seems to be on all the latest Xray cars, is the all new low profile shocks and related lower shock towers. The new LP shocks were developed to lower the CG of the car in order to improve stability. With the new LP shocks the RX8 stays flatter, making it easier to drive in chicanes and more resistant to traction roll, letting you carry more speed through high traction sweepers. The other major change is the all-new reverse clutch set whose design provides smoother and faster acceleration, while increasing the lifetime of the clutch shoe.
