2007 RC Pro East Series Rd3 – Report

2007 RC Pro East Series Rd3 - Report

We received a report from Gene Hickersen from the 3rd and final round of the 2007 RC Pro East Series, which was held last weekend in Savannah Georgia at Phil Hurd Raceway. It was a good turnout of about 140 entries as the best of the East battle for the title of RC Pro East Champion. The track was a good combination of fast sections and really slow sections with tons of small double jumps and 1 huge double jump in the middle. There was no place to make up any time on the layout, but many places where you could easily loose time; so the racing was very close as everyone had about the same lap times.

Petr Klatovský Win Czech Open Race

Xray have a report on their site from the Czech Open that was run recently at the RC Buggy Club Most. About 50 drivers were in attendance and most used it as a warmup race for the future round of the Czech Nationals that will be held at this track. In qualifying it was Kyosho racer Martin Vinš that claimed the top qualifer spot ahead of Xray racer Petr Klatovský in 2nd, he would go on to win his semi final and claim the pole position spot for the main final. In that final Petr could use his position well and kept out of trouble to lead off the grid until lap 4 when he made a mistake on the track allowing 2 cars to get ahead of him. However, in a short time he was able to catch them and pass them again and go on to increase his lead, eventually finishing 2 laps ahead Kyosho driver Jan Vostatek in 2nd and Martin Vinš in 3rd

Jon Hazlewood wins UK Truggy title

 Hazlewood wins UK Truggy title

Last weekend saw the final round of the UK Truggy Pro Nationals take place at Clanfield near Portsmouth in the south of Britain. With the title still up for grabs between Xray driver Jon Hazlewood and Hobao racer Graham Alsop, the competition was fierce and non more so than in qualifying with the main contenders battling for the pole position along with Kyosho racer Elliot Boots and in the end it was a strong drive by Alsop that gave him the top qualifying position. In the finals it was a clean get away for the top 3 with the lead changing many times between them but at the end of the race it was Hazlewood that took the win from Boots in 2nd and Alsop in 3rd. This result meant that the title contenders were tied on points, and even previous results, meaning that a 15 minute dual would decide the identity of this years National Champion. Hazlewood got off the start line best and was never headed and despite Alsop putting in some really quick laps he couldnt catch the Xray driver and the title was decided in favour of Hazlewood.
