Renaud Savoya wins 1/8th Pre Worlds

Renaud Savoya wins 1/8th Pre Worlds

After almost a week of muddy and super tricky conditions brought on by mid week rain, the Pre Worlds finals for 1/8th scale buggies were eventually run on a muddy track at the Farm 2 track in Charlotte, North Carolina. An extremely tricky qualifying saw Jammin racer Taylor James take the TQ spot from Kyosho pairing of Kelbey Roberts and Lance Norick with Billy Easton rounding out the top 4 with the Serpent protoype. After the Semi finals, in which the tricky conditions once more took their toll, it was Taylor James who would start from Pole position ahead of Mugen racer Daniel Vega from Spain and Mike Truhe racing for Losi in 3rd. The 1 hour final saw a good pace for Truhe, but 2 flameouts cancelled out any performance advantage he had and left him trailing Savoya who was leading. The Losi driver was able to catch the leader by the end, who was suffering from receiver battery problems, but it was not to be as Truhe had to stop just before the 1 hour was up due to mechanical problems although he still came home 2nd with Raul Peris for Kyosho in 3rd.
