Round 1 of the Xray Racing Series Austria was held at the small and technical track of the Carpet Brothers in Leopoldsdorf in the east of Vienna. The mains were run with 10-car fields, making for some eventful and hectic races. In the end it was Hupo Hönigl with the win in the 2WD Buggy class from Lucas Grainer 2nd and Peter Lonscar 3rd. Roland Hauleitner would come in 4th from Thomas Pumpler 5th.

The inaugural KRacing Winter Edition race was held at the La Nucia track in Spain this past weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro with the TQ from Mugen’s Robert Batlle and Team Associated driver Tom Robin. In the main final however it was Kyosho’s Riccardo Berton, coming from way down the field, who scored a popular win from Davide in 2nd as Kyosho’s João Figueiredo snatched the final podium spot. Alex Zanchettin (Tekno) came in 4th, Robert Batlle had to settle for 5th overall after some problems. Over in 1/8th E-Buggy it was also Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) with the overall TQ and by scoring wins in the opening two A-mains he would also take the overall victory from Mugen’s Robert Batlle 2nd and Tekno’s Alex Zanchettin 3rd.

Yokomo have announced another big signing this year to the Yokomo USA race team with JP Richards. Over the past couple years, JP has put together an impressive racing resume, driving for Team Durango and TLR, that would be hard to match. JP has dominated the racing scene in the Midwest, while also making the highly contested 2WD Modified Buggy A-main events at the past two ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals. JP will make his official Yokomo debut with the World Championship Winning YZ-2 DTM 2WD buggy and YZ-4 SF 4WD buggy next week at the 2017 JConcepts Indoor National series finale at Speed RC in North Carolina.

SWorkz have announced the signing of Dutch frontrunner, Jarno Pijpers to their team. Jarno will be running the company’s 1/8th and 1/10th scale kits in the 2018 season and he has the following to say about the deal:
The past years were some really good ones I was able to take the Dutch championship. I am really impressed by the SWorkz cars and the support of the team. The third round of the Polish Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the Warsaw Comic Con and Ptak Expo in front of thousands of spectators. While 2WD Buggy class was pretty much controlled from the very beginning until the very end by Yokomo driver Bartek Zambrzycki, 4WD appeared to be an open battle between three drivers: Bartek Zambrzycki (Yokomo), Sebastian Migal (Xray), and Bartek Zalewski (Xray). Lap times were close together and the qualifying results only varied by seconds. However, it is Bartek Zambrzycki again who took TQ and top podium position after the deciding third A-main. The runner-up spot in both classes went to Sebastian Migal from Bartek Zalewski who rounded out the podium results.
The newly refurbished indoor track of Team Astur RC played host to the EL1TE Race 2017 recently. The race, held in Gijón, in the north of Spain, saw an attendance of 60 drivers coming from all parts of northern Spain keen to race their 1/10th 2WD Buggies and Short Course trucks. Most drivers took the opportunity to practice on Saturday morning in order to adapt their rides to the grippy and bumpy astro surface until the seeding heats started early in the afternoon. In the 2WD buggy class, it was Pablo Fernández Rodríguez (Team Associated) who set the fastest three consecutive laps followed by David Bárcena (Xray) and Vari García (Xray), ahead of a pack of drivers where laptimes were incredibly close. Qualifying would be no different as Pablo managed to set an incredible pace –being the only driver to go around the track 12 times in all the five qualifying sessions and coming ahead in four out of five qualifying heats with only David Bárcena (Xray) managing to win only one heat and setting the fastest lap as Vari García took the 3rd position.

The city of Prague in the Czech Republic played host to round 2 of the Lestr Cup this past weekend. Xray’s Milan Mudra was in control of things in the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes as he took the overall TQ in both categories. With flawless runs in the 2WD finals he also secured the overall win from Marcel Dostal 2nd and Vaclav Broz 3rd (all Xray). Over in 4WD, where Milan won two of the three A-main legs, he left behind Jiri Dvorak in 2nd and Jindrich Jirak (all Xray) who rounded out the podium result.
The second round of the Japanese Stock Combat was held at the RC Maniax Arena in Osaka this past weekend. 87 entries made for some competitive racing and in Invitational 2WD Stock Buggy it was Kyosho’s Kohta Akimoto with win from Kyosho teammate Yusuke Sugiura 2nd. In 3rd Hiroshi Nishio (Yokomo) would round out the podium.
