Tyler Vik continues with Xray

Xray have announced that US top off-road driver Tyler Vik has renewed his contract with the Slovakian company for 2015. Tyler is the winner of many major US off-road races and multi time US off-road nationals’ finalist. Tyler is a multi-class off-road driver and will race with the XB8, XT9, XB8E, XB4 and the XB4 2WD and he has the following to say:

I am happy to continue to be part of the Xray factory team, and look forward to showing the performance of the cars throughout the 2015 racing season. The progress we have been doing with both 1/10 and 1/8 off-road cars is impressive and I am excited what this year will bring me. I will travel to all the major US races so do not hesitate to see me. I’d like to thank the Hudy family, as well as Ralph and Bryan at RC America for making this possible.

Michael Schoettler takes NIS round 2

The action packed Northwest Indoor Series continued its 2nd round in Albany, Oregon at Northwest Hobbies and Raceway. This four race series attracts the region’s best to three different tracks between Oregon and Washington with the ultimate goal to find out who is the fastest in each respective class. There are no drops and with each race being a month apart, planning and scheduling is a must.

All change for EOS Round 2 in Berlin

All change for EOS Round 2 in Berlin

It is all change for this weekend’s (Jan 30 – Feb 1) second round of the Euro Offroad Series as the championship returns to Berlin for a second year. Following a successful first visit to the German capital city last year, the first change is the venue with the race moving to a larger, more modern, building to better cater for the 200 plus entries. Having partnered up with Schumacher as official tyre supplier for Season #4, which got underway in Poland last October, another change for Round 2 is the switch over to pre-glued handout tyres for everyone. The third change comes in the form of the track action after the 2015 brought about one of the biggest team driver line up changes in years.

2015 Keilor GForce Invitational – Report

2015 Keilor GForce Invitational – Report

The 2015 GForce Keilor Invitational was hosted by the famous Keilor club in Melbourne, Australia. Held on the same weekend as the world famous Reedy Race, the GForce Keilor Invitational is a similar Invite style all-buggy event for the top racers in Australia to compete head to head in a pointscore race. Unique to this event, there is also an Invite class for the ultra competitive 17.5T scene. “Open” classes for Modified and 17.5T were offered, with the winners receiving direct invites to the 2016 edition of the event. The format for the Invite racers was five heats of head-head 2WD racing on Saturday, and another five heats of 4WD on Sunday. The four best results from each class were used to determine the overall winner. Open class racers had four qualifiers Saturday, with a final chance qualifier Sunday morning before the triple A-finals.

Tom Cockerill joins Yokomo factory team

Tom Cockerill joins Yokomo factory team

Yokomo announce the signing of UK’s Tom Cockerill to their factory racing team. Working alongside Lee Martin in the UK, Tom will be a great asset to the team as a top-level driver, and he will bring vast racing and technical knowledge to further develop Yokomo’s racing platforms. Tom has the following to say:

I’ve been racing about 15 years, with my major results including a UK 2WD National title, Multiple Euro and EOS A Mains, 5x Belgium GP titles and the 2WD DHI Cup. I’m really looking forward to joining the Yokomo team. The cars have been really good in testing, and I’m excited to get into the racing season with them. I’ll be competing the UK National Championship, European Championships and the World Championships in Japan.

5th Annual January Jam – Report

The fifth Annual January Jam Race was held at the Fabulous Flowood R/C Indoor Park this past weekend with 285 entries running 13 classes. While Cole Ogden came out successful in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno’s Ryan Lutz who swept the 1/8th Nitro Truggy, 1/8th Electric Buggy and 1/8th Electric Truggy classes. In the progress he also came out on top of the field in 1/10th 4WD SCT. Behind Lutz (Tekno) Cole Ogden (TLR) and Chandler Elliot (TLR) rounded out the podium in the 1/8th Truggy class. The Mugen duo of Marc Beck Robbie Darby (Mugen) completed the top 5 result.

Cole Ogden wins at the 2015 January Jam

The 2015 January Jam hosted by Flowood RC Indoor Park located in Flowood, Mississippi took place this past weekend. In the Pro Buggy class Cole Ogden managed to take the TQ position and in the final he had some great battles with Ryan Lutz and Josh Glancy. Closing in on the last laps, Cole had a comfortable lead up until he got caught up in some lap traffic only to let Josh pass him in the last turn. Josh pushed out wide and Cole pinned it to take home the overall win by .002 of a second.

Davide Tortorici wins Italian Electric Offroad champs

This past weekend was the Italian 1/10th Electric Offroad Champion held at the Iron Machine indoor track in Prato. This past weekend was the Italian 1/10th Electric Offroad Champion held at the Iron Machine indoor track in Prato. The qualifiers saw 2-time back-to-back European 1/8th scale Champion Davide Tortorici take the TQ honours in the 2WD class, while Federico Ruggeri would top the timesheets in 4WD. The finals told a nearly identical story, with Tortorici dominating the 2WD class with his Reds-powered Ironmachine-Kyosho and taking the title-worth win in front of the Ruggeri (Kyosho) and the EZ-powered Serpent of Ristori. The 4WD title was finally earned by Kyosho’s Federico Ruggeri, with Viale coming in 2nd and Vasselli rounding out the podium.
