Martin & Moss win at British Winter Open Champs

Martin & Moss win at British Winter Open Champs

This weekend was the BRCA British Winter Open Championship held by Silverstone Model Car Club, host of the popular Silverstone indoor winter series. For this one off event the club had gone all out, purchasing new AstroTurf so that the track was equally fresh to all competitors, and laying one of the best indoor tracks around. The presentation was excellent, giving a true professional feel to the event, and with many features the track was sure to challenge even the top drivers, without being too difficult for everyone. The club had chosen to go for a 100 percent astro turf track with carpet covered features, a good decision as it meant tyres were good from new and tyre wear wasn’’t high. So the stage was set for some great racing, and the crowd wasn’’t to be disappointed. Using the usual BRCA national format which see’s 2WD run on Saturday and 4WD Sunday, 240+ entries over the weekend.

Thomas Gisler wins at AMA GP

The opening race of the 2014 AMA GP was held at the AMA track in Rio de Janeiro. Due to the extensive dry and hot period in Brazil, the track was dusty and did not have the usual high grip as in last year’s races. Despite watering the track a lot, the organisers decided to cut the A-Main to 30 minutes in order to guarantee visibility and avoid potential damage to the nitro engines.

Dakotah Phend has wrapped up early the overall Buggy TQ honours for the 15th Annual Dirt Nitro Challenge in Phoenix, Arizona, as he again stamped his authority on qualifying at the Fear Farm. Phend TQ’s first round of Buggy at DNC

Phend TQ’s first round of Buggy at DNC

Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend best mastered slick conditions at the Dirt Nitro Challenge to TQ the opening round of Buggy qualifying which saw drivers struggle with a track that has become highly polished. Phend topped the times by 3 seconds from Serpent’s Mike Truhe, the pair the only two drivers to complete 10-lap runs over the 7-minutes. For defending champion Ryan Maifield, who is running in the third fastest heat it was a terrible start to the event with him failing to finish the round after suffering an engine flame out. Last year’s Top Qualifier Jared Tebo also had a difficult opening heat, the Kyosho driver struggling with ice like conditions and only able to post the 19th fastest time.
