Evens & Robert win Belgian SCT Cup Rd1

The first race of the Belgian SCT Cup 2013 has been held on BRTC track last Sunday. The layout of the track has been changed for this year and is now faster than before while still being challenging and offering very low grip. The number of entries is progressing compared to last year, with the participation of some fast buggy 1/10 racers and most importantly, young newcomers. They also had the pleasure to welcome a French driver coming all the way from Paris, Philippe Hautecoeur. The day started under the sun with pastries and coffee available on site. In 2WD qualification, tire choice proved to be pretty complex with drivers changing them each run in search of the best compromise. Martin Vierin put in the fastest run of the first run on his SC10 in front of Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT), Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT), Philippe Hautecoeur (SC10) and Julian André (SC10). Second run saw Nicolas take the advantage ahead of Jean-François, Philippe and Martin. Last run was decisive for the pole position attribution with Martin and Nicolas with a win each. Nicolas took that leg in front of Martin, Cédric Van De Ginste (SC10) and Jean-François.

Ty Tessmann double at ROAR Nats warmup race

The warmup race for the 2013 ROAR Fuel Offroad nationals took place last weekend at Gulf Coast Raceway’s covered track in Texas. Not all the factory teams were present but defending National champion Ty Tessmann was there along with other former National Champions, Worlds finalists and quick locals. Qualifying was all about HB driver Ty Tessmann, taking the top spot in both buggy and truggy. In the hour long buggy final Tessmann would take a clear win by nearly 2 laps ahead of TLR’s Adam Drake with Barry Pettit completing the podium. The 30 minute truggy final would see the same result this time with Ty nearly a lap ahead of Adam, with Pettit only 6 seconds back in 3rd.

Daniel Sarmiento wins Philippine Offroad Nationals

Racers from all over Metro Manila as well as Cebu and even Riyadh descended on the CV Off-Road Track for The 2013 Nitro Buggy Philippine National Championships. Early in the morning everyone was greeted with fine & sunny weather. World renown Race Organizer & Announcer Scotty Ernst was on hand to as the event’s Race Director. His colorful commentary added even more excitement to what would be an already amped-up Race.

Hartson double at 2013 JConcepts Stock Nationals

The second edition of the JConcepts Stock Nationals was held last weekend at OC_RC Raceway, located in Huntington Beach California. The crew at OC_RC had a fresh, stock friendly layout for the event, that was fun, flowing and had a tricky rhythm section to keep the best drivers on their toes. With stock 17.5, no boost ruling the event, consistent, tight, fast laps were going to get you to the checkers first. With an increase in entries from the inaugural event to 168, classes were full with some of the fastest drivers in the world giving it a go in Stock at this fun event. The OC_RC crew ran an efficient program to allow 4 rounds of qualifying on Saturday using Qual Points to set the Sunday main events.

Matt Schreffler joins Serpent America

Serpent America has announced they have signed top US offroad driver Matt Schreffler to their team. Matt will be running the Cobra GP Buggy and Truggy, as well as the Spyder 1/10 2wd Buggy that will be introduced in July. The SoCal native will compete in this year’s ROAR Nationals in Gas and electric as well as the IFMAR Worlds which take place in California in September. Matt had this to say:

Agustin Cutini wins Rd1 of Argentine Nationals

Last weekend the first round of the Argentine 1/8 off-road National Championships took place at the Speed Paradise track, host of last December’s World Championship. On Saturday, the TQ went to Agustin Cutini (Mugen/Novarossi), the 2012 National Champion was also able to take the win in the main final on Sunday. Second place went to Adrian Castro (Xray/Novarossi) with the third position going to Sebastian Recio (Mugen/Novarossi).

Adam Drake wins Spring Challenge at Revelation

This past weekend Revelation Raceway hosted the Spring Challenge. The one day event had 100 entries including top driver’s Mike Truhe, Cody King and Adam Drake. In round one of Pro Buggy Mike Truhe set the TQ with his Team Losi Racing 8ight 3.0 followed by teammate Adam Drake and Cody King. Drake set the quickest time in the second round of qualifying followed by Truhe, but Drake wasn’t able to better Truhe’s time from round one. Before the start of the 30 minute final Cody King had a mechanical problem and was forced to start the race late. Drake and Truhe would battle for the win with Drake coming out on top followed by Mike Truhe, Cody Smith and Ronda Drake.
