SWorkz France have announced that Edouard Hugon has joined the SWorkz European Team. Hugon is well known in the European R/C scene will use the SWorkz S350 BK1 2012 for the new season and will be attending most of the major events throughout the year.

Novarossi Italy have announced that South American Truggy Champion Henrique Winik has joined their factory team. The Brazilian, who won the FAMAR title which in Chile back in October, will run the full range of Italian made engines and pipes during the 2012 season.

SDRC Raceway in San Diego hosted their 1st Annual Toys for Joy event recently. In addition to helping out needy children in a big way, it was also a great race event. In the highly competitive 1/8th Electric class Tekno RC once again finished on top. Matt Wolter drove his Tekno equipped RC8.2 to 1st place, while in 2nd was class TQ Thomas Jones running a fully Tekno equipped buggy. The final podium spot went to Tekno RC owner Daniel Lewis also running a Tekno equipped buggy. Tekno drivers Ryan Hughes and Zac Burnside took 4th and 5th. A great race for a great cause with great results.

The 2011 KO Off-Road Championships were held December last weekend at West Coast R/C Raceway in La Mirada, CA. This years event brought in over 180 entries, which included 5 IFMAR World Champions, Ryan Cavalieri, Jared Tebo, Cody King, Brian Kinwald and Hayato Matsuzaki. The race program would run 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday taking each drivers single fastest run to determine the overall qualifying order. Then the top 8 drivers would go straight into the A-Main, with 2 car bump-ups from the lower mains to make a full 10 car field. Triple A-Mains were ran to decide the Champion in each class.

The organisers the 2012 Dirt Nitro Challenge in Arizona were in touch to tell us about this great event which will be run from the 22nd to the 26th of the February. Being held at the Fear Farm RC Raceway in Phoenix, AZ, the event attracts the best offroad drivers in the World and this year will be no exception. This event is open to both gas & electric 1.8th buggy as well as truggy, short course and 1/5th buggy/truck, with the latter running on a separate track. The event starting on Wednesday the 22nd of February for practice and runs through to Sunday the 26th for the buggy mains. The JConcepts Clash held its 5th annual event in Coral Springs, FL last weekend. Since 2007 The Clash has brought a one of a kind event to Florida that produces an experience like none other for competitors and manufacturers alike. For the 2011 edition, drivers were greeted by an amazing track surface on Thursday’s practice session which produced the fastest lap-times down into the sub 23 second lap range. The race was dominated by two drivers Ryan Maifield and Joern Neumann who took 3 and 2 class wins respectively.
Thunder Alley RC Raceway got in touch to tell us that the GRRS (Grass Roots Racing Series) is in its 3rd year and with the great success last year, with average attendance of 160 entries per event, they have made some tweaks to please the racers and make the race days more enjoyable. Saturday dates will be ran with only Short Course trucks & buggies racing, while Sundays will be the Nitro classes & 1/8 E-Buggy racing. Doing this will shorten up each race day and allow for some added skill levels & classes on both days
ROAR announces the Electric Supernationals to be held next August at West Coast RC Raceway. “The choices of how to accommodate all the classes that have emerged in recent years as LiPo batteries and brushless motors have increased the popularity of electric racing, are limited and challenging. The Short Course categories added more entries to the already-popular Electric Off-Road Nationals, and the EP 1/8 buggies and trucks were either on their own, or adding too many entries to a sold out Fuel Off-Road Nationals. Having run the EP 1/8 Nationals for three years on its own, it’s clear that adequate attendance was difficult. The other two obvious choices to combine with 1/8 EP were already popular enough to sell out without the pressure of additional entries.
