Sin City RC have been in touch to announce that it will be bringing the Silver State Nitro Challenge back to Boulder City Nevada on April 7th through to the 10th. Jimmy Babcock from the JBRL and Hot Rod Hobbies will be the guest announcer for this race we are told they will have the flyer for sign up ready for the beginning of 2011.

The 4th Annual JConcepts Clash was an event to remember. With over 240 entries, the event simply known as the Clash is where “The Powers Explode,” combining the best of the electric and nitro classes on the same day. Every year the Clash takes on a new identity with changing and flowing track layouts that put racers on point. Drivers who ace their vehicle set-up, tire choices and driving style adjustments rise to the top early and often at the Clash. Once again some of the nation’s finest drivers converged at the Hurricane R/C Park in Lutz, FL for a winner take all Cash at the Clash 2010 no holds barred event.

French engine company RB have announced that 3 time European Champion Renaud Savoya have re-signed with them for another 2 years bringing him up to the end of 2012. Renaud had this to say about the deal:
After 2 successful seasons under the RB colors, it was clear in my mind that I would renew my contract with the french engine manufacturer. I’m glad to follow up our evolution and keep up with our great results for the 2 upcoming years. During the first months, I was really impressed by the motivation and devotion of the team. This last weekend saw some excellent action for the Schumacher Off Road boys at the Team Durango Winter series at Ardent Raceway. New Schumacher recruit Danny McGee dominated 2WD with his Cougar SV easily taking the TQ with another Cougar SV of Lloyd Storey qualifying an excellent second. Both drivers ran on Schumacher Mini Pin Tyres, which were the faster of the two control tyres at this event. Danny took a comfortable win in the final with Lloyd second and James Helliwell third and young Greg Williams fourth again with a SV. The 4WD class had a very strong field with a few top names from the Touring car world also in attendance. TQ was a battle between the CAT SX2 of Simon Moss and Nathan Waters Durango, with both taking 2 TQ runs each it went just to Nathan with a slightly faster round time. Simon went on to win the final comfortably from TC star Andy Moore and young Greg Williams in third, capping off a great day for him. One again all the top runners ran Schumacher Mini Pin tyres.

Six short weeks from now, the Reedy Race returns to West Coast R/C Raceway and there is still an opportunity to be a part of it. With a successful lottery entry system and the waiting list contacted, a few entries for the open class still remain. There is still a maximum of 150 entries between 2WD Open and 4WD Open and signups are only available on www.rcsignup.com and must be paid upon entry. Former European Champion Yannick Aigoin has contacted us to officially confirm current rumours that he is ending his partnership with Novarossi engines, joining Losi team mate Martin Bayer who too recently ended his association with the Italian marque.
After many rumours, I want to confirm that I’ll not extend my partnership with Novarossi. I’d like to thank them very much for this experience and the great support they provided since I joined them at end of 2008. I’d also like to say that I’m proud of the technical and commercial work we’ve done together and to wish them all the best for the future. Now it is time for new challenges about which I’ll give you more details soon.
The organisers of the Silver Pennes 2011 have gotten in contact to tell us about their annual event which will this year take place from the 11th to 13th of March next year. This big international off road event, which is held at ‘Les Pennes Mirabeau’ in the south of France, close to Marseille, is expect to attract many big names including last year’s winners Jérôme Aigoin and Yannick Aigoin to name but a few. The race is open to gas buggy and truggy classes and registration will open on the 20th of December.

Mikes Hobby Shop in Porter, Tx, home of the 2010 IFMAR 200mm Worlds, hosted their 4th Annual Toys For Tots Race ending up with 116 entries. Again, a fantastic day (and night!) of racing, with everyone in good spirits as they got started at 3PM. Phil W. and Jeremy Cupps ran a super-smooth program with nearly no hitches and even though they took no breaks between rounds, and only about a 30 minute break before the mains, they were still there until nearly 3am. Estimates put the total of toys donated at about 123 and if you average them at $10/each (many were worth more), then that was close to $1230 worth of toys donated, for a grand total of over $2000 in Toys and Cash. The firemen that picked up the toys said this was far-and-away the largest haul they’d had this season, so congrats to everyone involved.
