Tim Wood wins Rd5 of UK 1/8th Nats

Last weekend, under changing weather conditions, saw the 5th round of the BRCA 1/8th scale Nationals run at the Halifax track in the north of England. In qualifiying, and despite rain plaguing the event, everyone managed to get a dry run in which allowed Tim Wood, racing a Serpent 960, to take the pole position spot ahead of 2nd placed James Connolly racing a Kyosho Evolva. In the final, which some drivers decided not to race because of the weather, it was Tim Wood and Mugen racer Andrew North that had a close battle in the early stages but as the track dried Andrew started to drop back, leaving Tim to take the win, 2 laps ahead of 2nd placed Gareth Bell who managed to pass North in the closing stages demoting him to 3rd.

Stéphane Bellity wins Rd4 French EP Nats

Last weekend at the Antibes track in the south of France, saw the 4th round of the French 1/10th 190mm touring car Nationals run under perfect racing conditions. Qualifying saw local Xray driver Stéphane Bellity take the pole position ahead of Schumacher racer Alexandre Laurent in 2nd place, while in the triple A-main it was Bellity that came out the clear winner in the overall results ending his race ahead of Tamiya racer Loic Jasmin in 2nd while 3rd spot fell to Aurélien Thréhout, driving an Xray. In the B class the race was all about Corally racer Olivier Beining who took the TQ spot and went no to take the win from team Michel Berty in 2nd, while Hot Bodies racer Cyril Fages claimed 3rd spot.

Sakke Ahoniemi joins GM-Racing

Sakke Ahoniemi joins GM-Racing

GM Racing have announced that they have signed former European 1:12 On-road champion and multiple 1:10 Touring car vice European champion, Sakke Ahoniemi. The Corraly team driver will use the companys GM Genius Brushless speedo, GM brushless motors and GM VISCommander battery management system on up-coming races. He had this to say about the deal.

After a couple of months testing with GM brushless motors and speedo, I’m very convinced that GM is the right company to power up my Corally cars for best results. GM Genius Brushless speedo is amazingly good in all areas and GM brushless motors have good power, so I’m looking forward to next races.

Giesa wins 1/10th German North Regionals

Giesa wins 1/10th German North Regionals

Serpent are reporting on the final round of the North German National qualifying race held at the Tuttendorf track in changing conditions. Ralf Krause TQ’d with his Serpent 720 ahead of team-mate Andreas Giesa in 2nd while in the final the pairing enjoyed a superb battle for 1st before Krause lost 2nd gear, which allowed Giesa to storm home for the win. A great drive by Guttschau saw him come home in 2nd positions ensuring a podium double for Serpent, while Hasselbring came home in 3rd.

Fintrack Nationals Rd6

Last weekend in Finland at the outdoor Tattarilla track saw the 6th round of the Fintrack series run for Electric touring cars on Saturday, with the 200mm gas cars being run on Sunday. Saturdays electric race was held in dry conditions and it was Juho Levanen, winner of the first 5 rounds of this series, that took the top qualifying spot with his Associated TC5. In the race it was Levanen all the way taking 2 final wins to claim the overall ahead of Sebastian Trzaska who got a win and a 2nd place to get 2nd overall, while Viljami Kutvonen edged out Teemu Leino for 3rd.

Can-Am Challenge / RC-Pro Series Rd1

We were contacted by our partners at the RC Pro Series with a report from the first round of the Great Lakes Division, held in Ontario, Canada at the end of May at the Hamilton track. Here is the full report from that event.

With RC-Pro making its first venture into the Canada this was surely going to be a good race. The Can-Am Challenge has grown on its own merit in the three years the Ontario 1/8 On-Road Racing Club has been in existence. Some big names from the Midwest Series crossed the border for their first trip to the challenging layout in Hamilton. This was surely more of a Can-Am Challenge than in the previous year’s races.

Mario Rigert wins Rd2 of Swiss EP Nats

Last weekend at the GMC club of Geneva, saw the 2nd round of the Swiss electric Touring car Nationals take place under changing weather conditions. Sundays qualifying started late due to rain but when the sun came out and the track dried it was decided to make the race based on 5 qualification runs with the best 3 counting towards the final result. In the modified class, it was round 1 winner Mario Rigert, driving for Xray, that showed his class winning 4 of the 5 finals to take the overall win ahead of Corally pairing of Marc Bösiger in 2nd and Philipp Huber in 3rd.

Chris Grainger wins Rd3 of BRCA Mod Nats

Rd3 of BRCA Mod Nats

Last weekend saw the 3rd round of the BRCA Electric Nationals take place at both Halifax and Southend for Modified/27T and 19T respectively. In Halifax the wet weather meant that the first 2 rounds of qualifying took place on a damp track but the track dried up for the 3rd round and it was National round 2 winner Chris Grainger, racing for Yokomo, that placed his car on the pole position spot with Associated racer Craig Drescher in 2nd. In the final it was Grainger all the way, taking the 2 final wins to take the overall round win ahead of Craig Drescher in 2nd while Hot Bodies driver Olly Jeffries finished in 3rd. In the 27T class it was Schumacher racer Lee Price that took the top honours with Adrian Bidewell in 2nd and Andrew Twigger in 3rd.

Over in Southend at the 19T class Nationals it was Mark Fuller that took the win ahead of round 1 and 2 winner Chris Kerswell, who took the pole position, but ended the event in 2nd, while Richard Thorpe claimed 3rd.
