John Sotiropoulos wins Rd1 of 2007 Greek Nats

John Sotiropoulos

Defending Greek National Champion John Sotiropoulos has started this year where he left off last year by taking the win in round 1 of the Greek 1/8th scale Nationals held at the Arena Racing circuit. The Serpent driver topped the timing sheets after qualifying and was able to convert that position into a win in the main final despite a problem in the race that dropped him back a lap on the leader. Sotiropoulos finished 1 lap ahead of Kyosho racer Vagelis Totomis who finished 2nd with another Serpent racer Mimis Papadopoulos in 3rd.

In the final Sotiropoulos was having a good battle with Kyosho driver Totomis but an error during his first pit stop saw the Serpent driver drop a full lap. Rejoining the race the defending Champion chased down leader Totomis and with 2 minutes of the 30 minute final remaining retook the lead.

Marc Kreisig wins Kyosho on-road Masters, Austria

Kyosho on-road Masters

Marc Kreisig has shown he was the class of the field at last weekends Kyosho on road Masters held in Wiener Neustadt near Vienna, Austria. The Kyosho racer managed to win the aggregated finals to take the overall win and was followed home by Xray NT1 racer, and race TQ, Manuel Huber who finished 2nd. In third was the NT1 designer and Xray owner Juraj Hudy who had a very good result despite the tough competition and a few problems in the race itself.

Although the driver had some bad luck they were very satisfied with the car’s performance because Martin and Manuel made very fast lap times in each final and were faster than the rest of the pack. However, with the touring bodies they were not able to beat the winner Marc Kreisig who was using a Lola body. For the next race with open bodies Team XRAY will be ready with Lola body.

Driving his Hot Bodies Cyclone, Moore managed to put in a blistering pace in the fastest last round to be the only driver to make it into the 21 lap range to take the top spot by over 4 seconds from Tamiya driver Hupo Hoenigl who moved up from nowhere before the final qualifying round to line up in 2nd. In 3rd position is DHI cup winner Ronald Voelker with the HB Cyclone who takes his place ahead of 4th and 5th place racers Jilles Groskamp and Atsushi Hara, racing Xray and HB respectively. The fact that 2nd – 6th positions are covered by 2 tenths of a second shows the tight competition at this event as well as showing the amazing pace of Moore who is so far up front.
