Kevin Zwahlen wins at SITCC Rd2

The second round of the SITCC series was held in Grand-Saconnex, Switzerland last weekend. The event suffered from a somewhat low turnout on drivers with only 42 entries for the three classes. The Touring class however still created some entertaining races especially in the four A-main finals and in the end it was HB Racing’s Kevin Zwahlen with the win from the Xray duo of Xavier Deparde and Cham Dassanayake.

Xray’s Korey Harbke battled with fellow Xray team mates Luke Pittman and Black Bell, splitting the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes across the rest of the rounds, with Luke and Korey having an awesome battle in A3, swapping the lead back and forth with Luke taking it at the end. Sobue & Ratheisky extend OneTen winning streaks

Akio Sobue has maintained his perfect record at the 2018/19 OneTen Series presented by Infinity having taken the win in the 8-minute A-main here in Guangzhou. Having already wrapped up the title with the win in round 5 yesterday, the Japanese driver led a mostly processional race as racers drove with battery conservation in mind. In the end, the top 4 finished in the positions they started with Sawada crossing the line in 2nd, while Nicholas Lee and Jan Ratheisky, who had a good battle early on, completed the top 4 with Haoran Ma in 5th. The talk before the race was trying to finish the 8 minutes on this high speed track and Sobue said he drove the race very smoothly, having pushed hard in the first few laps to build a gap. He was able to maintain his lead and in the end had a lot of power left in his 6300mAh cells. Despite having taken the title, the Infinity driver said he will for sure be in Hong Kong for the final two rounds saying he is aiming for a perfect score in the series.

Xray Racing Series Germany Rd2 – Report

The second round of this Winter’s XRS Germany was held at the permanent track of the MCRT-Aschaffenburg club. It was the last time the race took place at this facility since the track is likely to be closed in the first quarter of 2019. As the track is known for its small technical layout it demanded a lot from all drivers to make all clean runs. Classes run were Touring Car Stock, 1/12 GT Pan Car, Touring Car FWD and Formula. Most of the drivers already started off on Saturday with a whole day of free practice. Sunday was race day and at first saw three rounds of qualifying with the best two to count. Jannick Namyslo found a decent starting setup for his car and was able to TQ all three rounds. In FWD Harald Schmittgen, who drove the new Xray prototype, swept the qualifiers, highlighting the performance of both man and machine. In Formula Johannes dominated the field while in 1/12 GT Pan Car Felix was topping the timing sheets followed by Benedikt.

Sobue & Ratheisky to start Rd6 A-mains from pole

Akio Sobue has continued his dominance of the Sweep Modified class as the Japanese driver took the 3rd round of qualifying and wrapped up the top qualifying spot here early in Guangzhou for round 6 of the series with one qualifier still left to run. Jan Ratheisky did a similar feat in the Scorpion Stock class as the Xray racer once again was not headed by any of the local racers. In modified, the German bolted on a fresh set of Sweep handout tires and looked set to stop Sobue’s dominance, leading the heat for 3 minutes, but unfortunately fell back in the last minute which allowed Akio and Nicholas Lee passed. Sawada took 4th, while Lao Minhao completed the top 5. Sobue was once again on used tires, using a combination of 2 run old rear tires on the front and rear of his IF14, and said he felt the traction improve in the last 2 minutes of his run as the tires came in. For the final qualifier and the single 8-minute long A-main, Sobue still has two brand new sets of tires.
