BRCA Clubman’s Championship Rd4 – Report

Last weekend drivers headed to the Midlands for round 4 of the BRCA Clubman’s Championship at the Bedworth Club. Over the last year, the club has changed the location to a new and greatly improved venue. They have transformed an abandoned overgrown two tennis court area and surrounding area into a great pitting area and more importantly the flattest and grippiest track many have ever raced on in the U.K. The weather for the weekend was one of the hottest on record, with temperatures of 30ºC and track temperatures of 60ºC, something that is rarely seen in the U.K. and it would be a real test for both drivers and equipment. There was a full entry for race day and there were also 70 plus drivers practicing on Saturday with seven timed runs for all classes in heat order. So plenty of opportunity for those new to the venue to adjust to track conditions. The usual three classes were running, 17.5 Blinky, 13.5 Open and Formula.

Patrick Fankhauser wins at Swiss IC Track Nats Rd3

The Langenthal track played host to the recent third round of the Swiss IC Track Nationals. In the 200mm class and on Friday’s practice it was Xray’s Patrick Fankhauser with the fastest time, some 0.2 seconds ahead of teammate Traugott Schär. During Saturday’s qualifiers however Patrick ran into some issues caused by the high temperatures and so he only qualified in 4th place behind Thilo Thödtmann, Niclas Scherrer and Traugott Schär. In the 30-minute main final it was at first Shepherd’s own Thilo Tödtmann who lead the race, however he ran into technical issues at about the 20-minute mark that promoted Patrick, who had to recover from a collision in the opening stages, into the lead that he would hold onto until the checkered flag. Some seven laps behind Fankhauser it was Xray driver Michael Schäfer on the runner-up spot as Jakob Bühler (Xray) rounded out the top 3 results.

RCMC Singapore GP Nationals Rd4 – Report

The East Coast Race Track played host to round four of the RCMC Singapore GP Nationals last weekend. Finally Singapore gave everyone perfect weather with plenty of drivers and some exciting on track action. With 1/8th GP, GT, 1/10th GP and 1/5th scale racing, it wasn’t going to be a boring day for the spectators and racers alike. For 1/5th and 1/10th racing the organisers decided to try a new format for finals, where the final would be split into two 15-minute sprints, instead of the usual single 30-minute final. Similar formats are being used on the European Continent with a view to make the racing more exciting, and less of an Endurance style race. This would make qualifying even more important than usual for these classes.
