Hobbywing sign Naoto Matsukura

Hobbywing have announced the signing of multi-time IFMAR World Champion, Naoto Matsukura to their factory team. The Infinity driver will use Hobbywing brushless speed controller and motors in all of his electric rides in 2017 and he has the following to say about the deal:

I am very happy to join Hobbywing team. I tested 1:10 off-road power combos last month and found it super good. Then I decided to use Hobbywing power in CETC first round to feel it on my touring car and it worked amazing. I think Hobbywing can provide me the best combos in all my electric classes. Thanks to Hobby and Sekido for this good opportunity.

Michele Manzo wins at Team Associated International GP

The Team Associated International GP was recently held at the Indoor Racing Chilleli track in Scrivia in the four classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock Expert, Touring Stock, and Formula. On the high-grip asphalt track and after winning three of the three qualifiers, Yokomo’s Michele Manzo took the TQ in the Touring Modified class. In the triple mains Michele continued to dominate, taking the day’s win from Team Associated’s Juho Levanan and Xray driver Andrea Valerio.

Julian Wong teams up with Maclan Racing

Maclan Racing have announced that US on-road front runner, Julian Wong, has joined the factory team for the 2017 season. Julian has been testing the MMax Pro speed controller and MRR4.5 motor for quite some time and with the signing of this contract, Julian will be racing at the 2017 Reedy Race and other major national events with the Maclan power system.

Norwegian Electric On-road Nationals – Report

The Norwegian Electric Indoor On-road Nationals were held this past weekend on a purpose-built carpet track in Hønefoss, located about two hours from Oslo. The track was laid out with ETS carpet and corner dots and a technical layout made for tight racing action throughout the weekend. In the Touring Modified class, VBC Racing team driver Nikolai Håheim proved to be the man to beat through qualifying as lined up first on the grid. Just behind him came Stock specialist, multiple ETS-finalist and multi-times national champion, Helge Johannessen (ARC). Schumacher driver Tobias Sanden came in third with very steady drives in the qualifiers, conquering a lack of one-lap pace with excellent consistency.

Miguel Blanco wins at Venezuelan ISTC Nationals Rd2

Round two of the Venezuelan ISTC National Championship was recently held and the race saw Armando Lenzi taking the overall TQ after some fierce battles with team mate Miguel Blanco in the qualifiers. The A-mains started off pretty well for both drivers with Miguel coming out fastest in the opening leg but a clash between the two in A2 meant Andres Trigo would be able to come out fastest in the second main. The third and final main would bring the decision between the two and it was Miguel who took the win for the overall with Armando coming in second and Adres rounding out the podium in third.

Marc Valero wins Catalonia Pro10 Champs Rd2

The second round of the Catalonia Pro10 Championship was held at the Rubí track this past weekend. In the Modified class Marc Valero took the overall TQ and he would also walk away with the day’s win after some very close A-mains. Jaime Lacuesta would take the runner-up spot at round two with Sergio Lacuesta coming in 3rd.

Adrian Santeiro wins Spanish 1/8th on-road opener

The opening round of the Spanish 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals Championship was held at the Paco Lobo track in Sevilla in the South of the country. Mixed weather made things challenging for the competitors with Ruben Olivares making the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ and pole position for Sunday’s main final. After winning the Superpole race, Victor Gonzalez (Infinity) placed himself on the 2 spot on the grid. After the semifinals, held in damp conditions, Adrian Santeiro, Carlos Peracho, Alvaro Fernández, Sergio Montesinos, Iñaki Otero, Victor Pelaez, Alberto Alonso and Manuel Cendán proceeded to the 45-minute main final that was ultimately won by Adrian Santeiro (Infinity) with Sergio Montesinos (Shepherd) coming in second and Victor Gonzalez ending the day on the 3 spot.

Capricorn welcome back Marc Fischer

Capricorn have announced the return of German frontrunner, Marc Fischer to their electric on-road racing team. After reaching the World Championship A-main in Beijing last August, Marc is ready to be back working together with the Italian company, racing and developing the TE-03 Evo platform through to 2018. Marc has the following to say about the deal:

I want to thank VBC, Victor Law and Carven for the short but good times. Now i am really looking forward to return to Capricorn after the A Main at the Worlds in China. I really want to thank Patrizio Rossi for the chance he gave me to race for him and for Capricorn one more time. My First Race with the TE-03 will be the ETS in Madrid, follow by the Euros, Reedy Race and all other ETS Races which will follow. I signed a contract until 2018 Worlds in South Africa, so I will have the time to prepare and am really happy about it.
