Eric Albano joins Yokomo Factory Team

Yokomo have announced the signing of NorCal driver Eric Albano to their factory team. The former 17.5T Reedy Race Champion will race both on-road and off-road classes including the Reedy races, the IIC, Cactus Classic, JConcepts Summer Indoor Nats and more and he has the following to say about the deal:

I’m honored to be able to be a part of such a great team. Yokomo has always produced great products in both quality and performance. I’d like to thank Yokomo for giving me this opportunity, and am looking forward to 2016.

Rug Racers Rd3 – Report

The recent third round of the 2015/16 Rug Racers series welcomed people in from the rain and the excesses of Christmas, the pits were awash with shiny new toys that loved ones had bestowed upon them to spread some Christmas cheer and get them out the house for a few weekends of racing a year. The race again was fully booked and so controlled practice was the starting order of the day and once all 11 practice heats had been completed it was onto driver briefing and then game time. In Open Modified Elliott Harper took 3 of the 4 rounds, being the only driver on the day to get into 31 laps with young Harley Eldridge taking round 4 Kyle Branson being 2nd in every round.

Norwegian Cup Rd2 – Report

Norwegian Cup Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Norwegian Cup was run at the Lucky Raceway in Fredrikstad, host of the 2015 Nordic Championships. Classes run were Touring Modified, 13.5T Stock Blinky and 1/12th on-road and in the Modified class Helge Johannessen took the TQ with a prototype ARC R11 car in front of Petter Berntsen (Xray) and Andreas Daving (Schumacher). In the supporting Stock class Fredrik Haavardsrud (ARC) came out fastest after the qualifiers from Lars Haugen (Xray) and Trygve Berntsen (Gizmo). Finally in the 1/12th pan car class Lars Haugen (Xray) took the TQ from Lars Tommy Berntsen (Xray) and Trygve Bull Freng (Xray).

Loran Whiting joins Ielasi Tuned

Ielasi Tuned have announced the signing of US female racer Loran Whiting to their team. Loran will use the Novarossi-based Ielasi Tuned engines in her 2016 campaign that will include all major nitro on-road classes including 1/8th, 1/10th 200mm and 1/8th GT. Her first official outing with the new engines will be the 1/8th GT World Grand Prix Race in a couple of weeks time.

AMCT Tours 24 hours race – Announcement

AMCT Tours 24 hours race – Announcement

The AMCT Tour club will hold a 24 hours race on the weekend of the 18th of June 2016. The track is located in the Loire valley only around 80 kilometres away from the iconic city of Le Mans. Cars allowed to race are 2WD pan cars such as converted 1/10th formula cars, WGTs or dedicated rubber tyre pan cars with bodyshells raced at the actual Le Mans 24 hours race. All cars have to be equipped with lights and “blinky” brushless speed controllers while the 17.5T motors are provided by the organisers. Two sets of Ride XR tyres are also provided while special rain tyres are allowed in case of a wet race. The event kicks off on Friday with open practice and the actual 24 hours race starts on Saturday at 1 pm. Bruno Coelho signs with Mon-Tech Racing

Italian company Mon-Tech Racing has announced the signing of 2015 4WD Offroad World Champion and 2014 Touring Car Vice World Champion Bruno Coelho to their team. Bruno will use Mon-Tech’s bodyshells in his 2016 campaign that will include all major national and international races.

Rick Vrielijnck joins F.T. Line

Rick Vrielijnck joins XRD

F.T. Line have announced the signing of Dutch racer Rick Vrielijnck for the 2016 season. Finalist at the 2009 World Championship in Lostallo, Switzerland, Rick came back to racing in 2014 after quite a long hiatus and proved strong in his 2014 and 2015 ENS outing. In 2016 Rick will use the “F.T. Line” version of the XRD engines to power his Shepherd Velox V8 throughout the racing season.

Hupo Hönigl leaves Serpent

Austrian frontrunner Hupo Hönigl has announced his departure from chassis sponsors Serpent. Having only joined the team in January 2015 and despite being pretty successful at the Austrian Nationals while lacking impact at an international level, Hupo has issued the following statement:

I would like to thank Team Serpent for the support over the last year. We had ups and downs together and I can look back to a great year of racing. Unfortunately the time together was shorter then expected – I do not want to got too much into details here – it just did not work out as planned … More news coming soon …
