Viktor Wilck joins Serpent nitro team

Victor Wilck joins Serpent nitro team

Tamiya’s Viktor Wilck has teamed-up with Serpent to run the company’s nitro on-road and off-road vehicles, the Dutch company announce. The Swede will run the new Natrix 748 1/10th car at this year’s EFRA Euros and IFMAR Worlds, he will use the 1/8th Viper 977 at the Euros and Nordic champs and he will also have a bit of fun in the dirt while racing the Cobra 811 buggy at the Nordics. We understand that his contract with Tamiya to race the company’s electric chassis is not affected by his new endeavour.

Dutch electric on-road nationals Rd1 – Report  

The first round of the Dutch electric on-road nationals was held last weekend at the RC-Hotwheels track in Deventer. Practice on Saturday took place under the best possible weather conditions but overnight rain washed away the grip and coming the first qualifying round the track was still damp. Soon after the first round was completed, the heaven opened its gates again causing the racing action to come to a halt. In the Touring Car Modified class the TQ then went to Rob Jansen (Tamiya) followed by Jetse Reitsma (Spec-R) and Ronald Arts (Tamiya). The Stock class had Jitse Miedema taking TQ in front of his Xray fellows Bram Lagerwey and Steven Koiter.

Jeff Hamon wins 1/8th scale at NSW State Titles

The recent New South Wales IC State Titles not only saw the running of an 1/8th GT support class but also 1/8th and 1/10th nitro racing. In 1/8th on-road Mugen racer Jeff Hamon took the win from Leigh Dytor and Michael Turner. The 1/10th class had Peter Jovanovic taking the win from Jeff Hamon and Aaron Lee.

Chris Stanley wins GT class at NSW State titles

Moorebank Raceway hosted the 2014 New South Wales State IC Titles and for the first time ever 1/8 GT was offered as a demonstration class and is anticipated to be an approved class in the near future. The field comprised of a variety of brands which was dominated by Serpent Cobra GT drivers. Qualifying commenced on Friday with two qualifiers completed. Rick Seymosberger made an early statement in his Cobra GT which he improved upon during the second qualifier.

Wayne Mah takes 2014 WCICS 1/12th Modified title

At the final round of the Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series, which hosted over 1500 registrations across 8 events this season, Xray’s Wayne Mah took the Team Novak RC Sponsored 1/12th Scale Modified season championship. This is the first year for 1/12 Modified in WCICS, and is the fastest class in the series. Only very skilled drivers need apply, and Wayne takes home the well-deserved top spot in the inaugural year. Second in the championship was an amazing three way tie. British Columbia’s CRC sponsored Blake Bell, followed by Team Associated’s Peter Toszer in 3rd, and Steve Soon were all tied, but after going to race wins, TQ’s, and dropped races that’s how it shook out. Fleischmann & Hettrich take German Indoor Nationals

Last weekend, the 2014 German Indoor Nationals were held in the small town of Manching near Ingolstadt on a quite challenging track. A total of 59 entries participated in the three classes. In the Modified class, Yokomo driver Dominik Fleischmann dominated the proceedings from practice on, TQ-ing all five rounds of qualifying. Behind him Marc Fischer took his Serpent to second on the grid in front of the Awesomatix of Dionys Stadler.
In the finals, Dominik was able to open up a comfortable gap early on and he went on to take the overall win by winning all three A-mains. The podium was completed by Stadler and Fischer and the top 6 result was rounded out by the Xrays of Marco Kaufmann and Tim Wahl and the Yokomo of Bernhard Bopp.

Cuypers, Zick and Rausch win at West Open Rd2

The 2nd round of the Western German nitro championships took place in Bad Breisig near the Rhine river. Rain hampered the racing action during the qualifying heats but when the weather turned to the better in the afternoon, the race wins went to Mugen racers Steven Cuypers in 1/8 class 1 and Reinhard Zick in 1/8 class 2 as well as to Shepherd rookie Bernd Rausch in 1/10 scale. A total of 62 entries signed in for the race organised by the MCC Rhein-Ahr club, but only 42 racers attended on the wet track on Sunday morning.

Harper & Finlay win at BRCA season opener

Round 1 of the 2014 BRCA Touring Car Nationals was held this past weekend at the West London circuit situated near Heathrow airport. Known as the home of touring car racing by many of the UK drivers, it is one of the more technical and challenging circuits on the series calendar. Before the event all the talk was on how the weather would treat the drivers, and it decided to be somewhat cruel by giving all the drivers challenging and mixed weather conditions throughout the weekend.
