Piotr Okonski joins LRP International team

LRP have announced that top Polish racer Piotr Okonski has joined their international race team. The 6-time Polish National Champion will run the complete line of LRP electronics including the Flow Works Team ESC, X20 Motors and Competition line of batteries in both his onroad an offroad cars. Piotr will compete this season in the National series as well as the majority of the ETS series and other major races.

Keven Hébert signs Associated/Reedy extension

Team Associated and Reedy are very happy to announce that Keven Hébert has signed a multi-year contract extension and will continue to race Team Associated’s TC6.1 Worlds, 12R5.2, and 10R5.1. Keven will now be using Reedy Sonic Mach 2 motors in all his vehicles and will continue using Reedy LiPo batteries and LRP Flow Works Team ESCs. Reedy department manager Rick Hohwart was happy to hear the news of the extension, saying, “Keven is one of the fastest drivers in the world and his input is highly valuable when it comes to developing new products. Not only is a he a great racer, but he is always willing to help fellow racers with questions and feedback regarding setups, gearing, etc.” Keven was excited about the signing, saying,

I am looking forward to continuing my racing career with AE/Reedy and working closely with the R&D department in the development of new and exciting products. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the remainder of 2013 and beyond.

Zdenko Kunak wins Czech Winter Champs

The Winter Czech National Championship was held in Rtyne v Podkrkonosi 150km North of Prague. The race format saw controlled practice on Friday, qualification on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Around 100 drivers attended in the several classes including touring car modified, 17.5T zero boost stock, GT, formula and hobby. 17 drivers in stock and 34 touring modified mixed up with some of the top Czech drivers makiing for close and competitive racing. In modified Zdenko Kunak started strong during the controlled practice and he also was on the top of the field in the stock class but he experienced pressure by Marek Cerny. Zdenko though struggled with setup as the hand out tyres been too old delivering virtually zero traction and side bite. After a slow start Zdenko was able to win the important last qualifying races taking TQ in both the stock and modified class. In the finals the race was still on between Zdenko and Marek and at the end it was Zdenko who took the modified class with Marek being successful in stock.

Green & Beal win BRCA 200mm season opener

The 2013 1/10th IC National series kicked off at the Mendip Model Racing Club over the weekend of the 30th and 31st of March. The weather for the weekend was dry on both days, with outbreaks of sunshine but chilling breezes. Numbers for each class were as follows, 24 200mm and 20 Sports GT. Mark Green was back once again to start his title defence with Peter Hastings sitting out this racing season meaning that a new Sports GT champion will be crowned. On the Saturday Glyn Beal would lead the way setting a blistering pace with returning Richard Draycott and Adam Crossland following suit. In 200mm it was much tighter at the top with Mark Green, Alex Thurston and Joe Kerry all setting quick lap times.

Bowie Ginting wins Rd1 of Indonesian EP regionals

The first round of the 2013 Indonesian Regional/Jakarta EP Championship was held at the Sunter International Speedway with more than 50 entries attending in the four classes Prostock 10.5T, Stock 13.5T, FWD and 1/12 pan car. Qualification saw three five minute rounds with the best result counting. Bowie Ginting was able to grab TQ followed by Rama Tribudiman in 2nd and Ronny Suwarto in 3rd position. Heri Susanto and Suwardi Suliandy completed top 5 grid. The first A main saw Bowie pulling away towards a clean win while Rama, Ronny, Heri and Suwardi fought for the 2nd place. And after the 5 minute run, Heri finish in 2nd, followed by Suwardi in 3rd. In A main 2 Bowie once again got a clean start but the rest of the pack that got involved in a serious crash in the first corner. Bowie kept his steady pace and crossed the finish line in first position, followed by Heri and Suwardi respectively. By winning the second run Bowie secured an early overall win but decided to attend in the third A main again. He once again pulled away from the field but further down the pack Heri had to retire after an early accident. Suwardi got 2nd and battled till the last minute for this spot with Teddy. This gave Xray a clean top 3 sweep with Bowie, Heri and Suwardi all running the T4 car.

Bowie Ginting wins Rd1 of Indonesian Nationals

The first round of 2013 Indonesian 1/10 GP National Championship was held at the JITC Race Track in Jakarta, Indonesia. The weather was perfectly clear all day but the grip level was a bit low due to rain on Saturday. Heri Susanto took his Xray into the TQ Spot with 17 laps @ 5.01 followed by Dimas Ardian placing his Serpent in 2nd, 4 seconds behind Heri. Last year’s Futaba OS Jakarta Open finalist, Aswin Narwandi would start in 3rd while Toni Kundjung took 4th. Defending National champion Bowie Ginting had a bad qualifying, having failed to finish all qualifying rounds due to engine-flame outs, he started from 6th behind Kenji Taira.

Szymon Niebora wins Polish TC Championships

Last weekend the Polish Touring Car Championships was hosted by the Polish Model Car Federation and the local club RC Wroclaw. It was big international event which attract around 100 drivers from Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and Lithuania. In the modified class we saw the domination of Yokomo cars and drivers. After qualification the TQ went to Szymon Niebora (Yokomo) and the second spot went to Mateusz Ogonowski (Yokomo) while the third spot went to Michal Orlowski (Tamiya). Defending champion from the summer Michal Orlowski (Tamiya) did his best, but could only defend his position without a chance to catch the leader. The title went to Yokomo driver Szymon Niebora, second place to Michal Orlowski (Tamiya), with Kuba Rozycki (Kyosho) third.
