Venom SCX 2wd Short Course truck

Due to be announced tomorrow at the Nuremberg toy fair, the Venom SCX was designed for the popular 2WD short course racing class modeled after the fullscale Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series racing trucks. Designed from the ground up, the SCX represents the latest in race truck design plus a new feature unique to the Venom SCX MORdrive system. Now you can adjust the center of gravity on the fly in the pits by changing the rear transmission position from mid-motor to rear motor. The MORdrive system allows you to fine tune the weight balance and tailor the SCX to the track conditions to take the competition by surprise.

JConcepts Slash 4×4 overtray & Manta SC

New from JConcepts is this over-tray for the Traxxas Slash 4×4, which helps protect the chassis from excessive debris. Fitting nicely under the body, the over-tray fits snug around the entire chassis structure while being attached along the sides with hook and loop tape for quick inner access. The over-tray is built with extra height and rake to provide extra room for various electrical and battery configurations.  In addition, JConcepts has incorporated an extensive scoop and louver design which can be trimmed to allow air flow and heat escape. JConcepts have also released final photos of their new Manta Short Course body shell, which is suitable for the Slash, Slash 4×4 and SC10. JConcepts has included an optional rear spoiler which gives the ability to alter the look and function of the Manta by simply adding or removing the rear spoiler.

Losi Extra high torque servo

Losi have released this extra high torque servo. An ideal step up for RTR and 1/8 throttle servos this servo provides over 130 in./oz. of torque reliably through ball bearing supported metal gears. This servo is perfect for 1/10 steering, 1/8 throttle, and 1/8 Monster trucks that will benefit from the extra torque and power. The metal output shaft features 23 splines, which is the same as Losi, JR, Spektrum, and Airtronics.

Factory Team SC10 lightweight ball differential

Team Associated have announced the introduction of the Factory Team ball differential specifically designed for the SC10. Once built, the differential fits directly into the stock SC10 transmission case without any modifications. Racers have long enjoyed the handling benefits that a ball differential offers. For nearly 30 years, competition electric off-road cars have been equipped with them, and for good reason, ball differentials improve handling consistency over bumpy surfaces while increasing cornering capabilities. Each outdrive is machined from hardened steel for exceptional durability, then lightened to reduce rotating mass. The outdrives are also available separately so that current T4 and B4 differentials can be upgraded for use in the SC10.

Savox SC1267 & SC1268 servos

New for 2010 from Savox come two new releases predominately aimed at the nitro car racer who is racing over a prolonged duration. The demands put on throttle and steering servos when mounted in nitro vehicles, can create motor heat build up when used over a prolonged period. This heat build up can on occasions cause servo problems. With these applications in mind, Savox have reduced the motor RPM a little and improved torque within their new SC1267 and SC1268 servos to make them more suitable to longer sustained usage.

Hudy CNC-machined alu servo horns

New from Hudy, these CNC-machined alu servo horns are for use on the steering servos in all 1/8 off-road cars. Alu servo horn offers maximum steering control by eliminating the flex often associated with composite servo horns. Drilled and tapped for 3mm-linkage hardware, the horn has two holes for linkage mounting, allowing you to quickly and easily change the linkage angle.

AKA Pre-mounts on Pro-5 wheel

AKA have announced the release of pre-mounted tires on their Pro-5 wheel specifically aimed at the Short Course market. They have chosen the Cityblock and Crossbrace as their first release on these wheels, which in the Super Soft compound yielded the best results in a variety of conditions during our testing. These Pro-5 pre-mounts also utilize AKA’s innovative and often imitated ground, closed cell inserts for the ultimate in durability and performance. These are a great add-on to sell with their Short Course adapter sets for the Slash and the Associated SC10.
