Avid ARC R10 ’15 aluminium chassis

Avid ARC R10 '15 aluminium chassis

Coming soon from Avid and made for the ARC R10 ’15 touring car is an aluminium main chassis. Cut from 2mm 7075-T6 material and coming black anodised and with silver edge highlights the chassis features unique herringbone cut-outs for a lower weight and optimised flex characteristics. Battery tape on the bottom of the chassis has a cutout slot so it doesn’t interfere with ride height checks or drag on track while the 2mm thickness allows for a lower centre of gravity and the ability to lower roll centres more than stock. The direct replacement 82mm wide chassis is recommended for medium to high-bite conditions.

ARC R8.0E 1/8th electric on-road car

ARC R8.0E 1/8th electric on-road car

Coming soon from ARC is the R8.0E 1/8th scale electric on-road kit. The electrified version of the popular R8.0 nitro car shares more that 80 percent of the parts with its nitro sibling while offering a purpose-designed layout with the drivetrain located between the saddle pack batteries. The chassis allows to use either 2S or 3S hardcase LiPo battery packs which are located as close to the centreline as possible for an improved weight distribution and maximised agility. The layout provides an ultra-low centre of gravity, a 50/50 left-to-right and 48/52 front-to-rear balance. The result is minimised chassis roll to make for better handling and a more balanced driving feel. Tests have shown that dual 2S packs and a 2200kv motor will accelerate the car to speeds of up to 85km/h while dual 3S batteries will propel the R8.0E to speeds of up to 115km/h, exceeding most nitro cars.

Tobias Kerler joins ARC

ARC have announced the signing of Germany’s Tobias Kerler to their nitro on-road team. The former Serpent driver will use the company’s R8.0 car in his upcoming campaign that will see appearances at the ENS, the Euro A in Germany and the German Championship. This is what Tobias has to say about the deal:

First of all I want to say thanks to ARC for the possibility to drive the new ARC R8.0. After a long time in Serpent, which I want to thank also, I wanted to meet new challenges. I heard about the outstanding car and the decision was easy. During construction of the R8.0 I saw that the power train is very smooth and due to the very good quality the building structure was quite simple. In the first test I reached already the times like with my Serpent. In my first race, the 2. LCT run in Rötz, I could undercut my time to 1/10[th of a second]. Now I’m looking forward to work together with the whole ARC team and present the car at the next races [as are the] ENS, Euro A Ettlingen and DM 1/8 Türkheim.

ARC R8.0E 1/8th electric on-road kit

Shortly after the announcement of the R8.0 1/8th nitro on-road car ARC have first renderings of an electric-powered variant available. Sharing around 85 percent of parts with the nitro variant the whisper silent electric car will sport a relocated drivetrain with an inner mounting position for the centre belt to allows the battery packs to be mounted as close to the centre of the chassis as possible. The battery trays will accept 2S, 4S and 6S LiPo packs while the motor mount takes industry standard 550-class motors. The speed controller will be located on a separate tray to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible. With the R8.0E being a purpose designed kit there will also be a conversion kit available for the R8.0 allowing nitro drivers to use the car off season.
