Avid D8T carbon fibre arm inserts

Avid D8T carbon fibre arm inserts

New from Avid and made for the Hot Bodies D8T 1/8th scale nitro truggy are carbon fibre inserts for the front and rear A-arms. Developed and used by Ty Tessmann to win the 2014 Dirt Nitro Challenge the inserts offer another tuning feature by reducing the flex and twist in the arm. The carbon inserts starts as a 3.9mm thick piece which is milled down to 2mm thick while leave 6 islands still at 3.9mm and to finish them up the islands are pocketed in the middle to 2mm to remove unnecessary weight. These inserts are installed on the bottom of the arm and the islands key around the moulded ribs in the arm. Installing these pieces will take some personal time and they are available as separate front and rear set as well as a combo containing both the front and rear inserts and the needed drill bits to prepare the truck’s arms.

Avid carbon fibre touring car option parts

Avid carbon fibre touring car option parts

Avid have a range of optional carbon fibre parts for the Xray T4, Team Associated TC6.2 and the Yokomo BD7 available. The line-up includes 2.0mm carbon chassis, 2.0mm and 1.5mm top decks, as well as 2.0mm shock towers with all parts being direct replacements for the kit items. The chassis allow to lower the centre of gravity and the roll centres more than stock and they are specially cut to ensure equal twisting resistance side to side. Also the chassis shape is smoothed to keep droop screw platforms from digging into the track during hard cornering. Different thickness top decks help to fine-tune the chassis stiffness to adapt the cars for both carpet and asphalt racing. The shock tower are available separately for the front and rear and as combo sets including both the front and rear shock stay.

Avid Triad Evo slipper plates

Avid Triad Evo slipper plates

Avid introduce their new Triad Evo slipper clutch. It utilises a new plate design that is self-centring so there is no longer a need for the three hard-to-mount black washers. Avid also added three vented slots in order to remove some rotating mass and to help with cooling the plates during a vented operation. The original Triad slipper clutch kits will have a running name change to Triad Evo and will include the new Evo plates along with a new set of install instructions. The Evo plates are also available separately if racers would like to upgrade their current slipper, nothing else is needed. They are compatible on every vehicle except the Durango conversion. Due to the nature of the Durango design they are too tight for operation so now the Durango upgrade kit will include two original Triad plates without any price change. For customers that just recently purchased a Triad slipper and have yet to use it, Avid will honour a free exchange of the original plates for the new Evo plates.

Avid have released a first image of their forthcoming aluminium chassis set for the Hot Bodies D413 4WD buggy. The chassis set will feature an updated ballast weight system and an optional floating servo mount as known from the electric touring cars. Unlike the World Championship winning Avid B44.2 aluminium chassis set, the D413 will utilise a rotated front ballast position to add steering compared to the B44.2’s centralised position that will increase stability, hindering steering agility. Avid Aura bearing line

Avid Aura bearing line

Avid have introduced their new Aura bearing line. Taking what they learned from their rear ceramic engine bearings they shrunk that technology down to offer the most advanced bearings to be used in the gearbox of popular 2wd 10th scale off-road vehicles. These bearings have no seals, a high speed nylon ball retainer, SiN34 ceramic balls, tighter tolerances and high-speed oil and was developed for the racers that enjoy maintaining their equipment and don’t mind spending a little extra to have the best performance available. They are not stopping with just gearbox kits either and will be rolling out the Aura bearing with different seal options for those that would like to use them throughout their whole vehicle. Bearing kits are currently available for a wide range of 2wd buggies.

Avid acrylic touring car chassis tweak plate

Avid acrylic touring car chassis tweak plate

Avid now have this acrylic tweak plate for touring cars available. The car will be placed on top of it, the top deck screws will be loosened and tighten back up while pressing down on the car at the top and bottom of the battery and at the servo and speedo. This will help settle the chassis and get a true setting on the top deck. This acrylic tweak plate is an alternative to other units on the market and helps to save weight while travelling or keeping weight in that wallet.
