Awesomatix 4.8mm ball studs & open ball cups

Awesomatix 4.8mm ball studs & open ball cups

Awesomatix have new optional 4.8mm ball studs and matching “open” ball cups available. The parts are designed to replace the standard upper inner pivots for the camber and caster links of the A700 touring car to make for faster suspension geometry changes – a popular modification that previously was carried out using non-Awesomatix parts. Now the respective 10mm long ball studs and open ball cups are available directly from the Russian company with the design of the parts allowing for roll centre fine-tuning without disconnecting the cups from the balls. The ball studs come in packs of four while the cups being sold as pair.

Awesomatix AS-700L brushless low-profile servo

Awesomatix AS-700L brushless low-profile servo

Available now from Awesomatix is this low-profile steering servo. Sporting an integrated central “floating” servo mount the servo does away with the need to run the conventional mounting brackets or the company’s floating servo mount as it directly mounts to the chassis using the existing mounting holes. The top case is CNC-machined from aluminium and comes black anodised to match the middle heatsink section and the all-black receiver wire. A brushless motor makes for swift and powerful steering action but unfortunately Awesomatix missed to release any performance data so far.

Updated Awesomatix A700 spool set & steering blocks

Updated Awesomatix A700 spool set & steering blocks

Awesomatix have new option parts for the A700 touring car available in the form of a redesigned front spool and narrow steering blocks. Starting with the spool, the updated design has mounting screws sitting in the outdrives for a more secure fitment. The set includes a new spool axle, a pair of outdrives, bearings and mounting hardware. Also new are the AM06M steering blocks. They offer the same roll centre geometry as the AM06S but make for a 1.5mm narrower track width which can give an advantage in low-grip conditions.

Awesomatix steering servo prototype

Awesomatix steering servo prototype

Seen at last weekend’s ETS race in Germany Awesomatix are close to releasing their own steering servo with built in floating servo mount. A high speed metal gear servo at the core, its aluminium case doubles as the floating mount removing the need to mount your current servo to the standard mount, saving space and weight meaning. The Russian company are also believed to be offering the option of having your name laser etched on to the servo as seen on those of their team drivers.

Awesomatix GD2 gear differential internals

Awesomatix GD2 gear differential internals

German Awesomatix distributor Shepherd Micro Racing introduced a brand new metal gear set for the new Awesomatix GD2 differential which comes without any internals. Already successfully tested by Freddy Südhoff and Max Mächler using the gear set results in a very smooth and durable diff action. The set includes six gears as well as two hard-coated 7075-T6 aluminium diff pins. Included are also all needed shims. The GD2 diff set fits all A700 models.

Awesomatix A700 gear diff V2

Awesomatix A700 gear diff V2

Seen for the first time in public at the recent ETS season opening race in the Czech Republic Awesomatix now have the V2 gear differential for the A700 touring car available. The updated version offers ultra smooth running and a newly designed floating inner O-ring system to compensate the fluid’s volume expansion once the oil starts to heat-up during a race. This makes the diff more consistent throughout the run and also generates a more consistent and predictable car with increased rear traction. New filling and bleeding holes within both outdrives allow for easy building, setup and maintenance, leaving a “bubble-free” differential. The set comes without internal gears, cross pins or washers but according to Awesomatix the latest Xray T4 items will do the job just fine.

Awesomatix A700L Evo touring car kit

Awesomatix A700L Evo touring car kit

Awesomatix will soon release a new version of the A700 4WD touring car called the A700L Evo. The updated kit will make use of the new Floating Front Gearbox design that lets the front gearbox float inside the outer frame during acceleration or deceleration. The gearbox can move left and right and rotate on some angle with the main goal of this setups is to prevent the chassis flex from affecting the shaft transmission as it can happen with conventional layouts. The new design eliminates this problem by using a lightweight carbon tube bar that withstands the transmission’s torque keeping the main chassis free from drivetrain influences. With the new design drivers are also able to run the car without any top deck by simply using the carbon rod. Freddy Südhoff and Viljami Kutvonen already used this setup at the recent Touring Car Euros in Portugal with good results by placing the cars in the A-main. Other benefits of the new configuration is a higher corner speed and less tyre wear especially on asphalt tracks. The new kit will be released at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014.
