Vitor and Vezzetti crowned Brazilian National Champions

All Racing track in São Paulo hosted the recent Brazilian EP Indoor Championship for the 4th consecutive time, as the only fixed carpet track in Brazil, where Awesomatix’s Gabriel Vitor and Eduardo Vezzetti crowned National Champions. With 40 drivers competing in two categories, the event stood out not only for the competitiveness of the participants, but also for the high grip conditions provided by the hot and humid weather. The championship was divided into two main categories, Stock (21.5T) and Pro Stock (10.5T). In the Pro Stock category, Gabriel Vitor secured his first title in the fourth final, having won 3 of the first 4 heats. The podium in the category ended with Luiz Lima in second and Renan Gea, current champion of the category, in third. In the Stock category, Eduardo Vezzetti confirmed his favoritism by winning the first 3 finals with ease, securing his second championship, repeating the feat of 2022. The podium in the category was completed by Carlos Oliveira and Paulo Martins.

Hebert and Lia win at U.S. Indoor Champs

The 44th running of the U.S. Indoor Champs Presented by Hobbywing saw Xray’s Keven Hebert defend his title in Modified Touring Car while Awesomatix’s Donny Lia took the win in 1:12 at the Cleveland, Ohio, classic.  In Touring Car Qualifying, it was the fourth & final round of qualifying that proved the fastest round with Hebert 6/10ths of a second faster than Awesomatix’s 2022 Champion Sam Isaacs with team-mate Kemp Anderson securing P3 on the grid.  With a single A-Main, Hebert set the fastest lap of the race to win by a 3.3-second margin over Isaacs with Anderson finishing a further 1-second back to complete the podium.  In Mod 1:12 qualifying it was defending Champion Isaacs that took the overall TQ, his Awesomatix fastest in Q4 from MonTech NYGP winner Anderson with Lia third fastest, his best time coming in Q3.  In the triple finals, Isaacs managed to convert in A1 as Lia got by Anderson for second but in A2 the Top Qualifier caught a corner that allowed Anderson to the front but he then had a mistake 2 and a half minutes in allowing young Stuart Mason to the lead ahead of Lia where he would stay to the finish.  Bringing the 2024 edition of the World’s longest running RC race to a close, in A3 Isaacs had the early lead but under intense pressure from Anderson there was contact with the boards for Isaacs that broke his car and put him out of the race.  With Anderson leading, as the race came to a close Lia started pushing him hard and on the last lap executed a great pass to take the win and the title.  Mason would finish runner-up with final step on the podium going to Isaacs.

Lauter ‘Spec’ World Champion after dominant display

Awesomatix’s Simon Lauter is the new ISTC ‘Spec’ World Champion, the German putting on a dominant display of driving at Finishline RC Raceway in California to secured the title in A2.  Only the second running of the World Championship for the 17.5 Spec class, having finished runner-up to Alexandre Duchet 2-year ago at the inaugural event in Italy, Lauter made the trip to the US with just one goal in mind and executed a near perfectly campaign.  Securing the TQ and winning A1 with ease, the back to back European Champion once again pulled clear of the field in A2 with one onlooker commenting that his race was the definition of the ‘perfect driving’.  The only driver to top Lauter over the 6 qualifiers, Max Mächler would win A3 to make it a 1-2 for Awesomatix, the latter having given the manufacturer their first World title when he won the 1:12 Spec title in Florida last year.  As the outgoing ‘Spec’ Champions Xray would complete the podium in Bakersfield with Jan Ratheisky, the German driver chasing home Mächler in A3 having taken P3 in the second A-Main after his body tuck in A1.

Rheinard wins A1 after Coelho-Orlowski contact

Awesomatix’s Marc Rheinard has taken the opening A-Main at the Electric Touring Car World Championship, the 3-time ISTC World Champion capitalising on contact between defending champion Bruno Coelho and Top Qualifier Michal Orlowski.  With the Top 2 initially pulling clear, as they scrapped over the lead Rheinard closed in to make way it a three way flight of RC titans, the closeness of the action generating plenty of ‘ooohs’ from the onlooking crowd.  Having got alongside leader Orlowski a number of times, Coelho would attempt a pass in the corner coming on to the main straight but contact was made with Orlowski ending up in the corner with a body tuck as Rheinard slipped through unscathed for a comfortable lead he will hold to the finish ahead Ronald Volker and Akio Sobue with Coelho finishing back in fourth.  Orlowski would finish P8, his car suffering damaged in the incident.

Lauter ‘Spec Class’ Top Qualifier at ISTC Worlds

Awesomatix’s Simon Lauter is the Top Qualifier of the ‘Spec Class’ at the IFMAR ITSC World Championships in California.  The reigning back to back European Spec Champion secured pole position for what is only the second running of the class as a World Championship with one round to go when he recorded his fourth TQ in the fifth & penultimate round of qualifying at Finishline RC Raceway.  Going into qualifying as the Top Seed, the German, who earlier this year added the TITC Open Brushless title to his impressive CV, opened with a TQ run which he would back up in Q2 with another.  Also a competitive international Modified Touring Car competitor, the third round would be the only glitch of the day as he rolled his Hobbywing powered A800R on a curb, a mistake that allowed team-mate Max Mächler to post a TQ run.  In Q4, Lauter returned to the top moving one step closer to locking in his first goal of the week, a new Spec World Champion going to be crowned as inaugural winner Alexandre Duchet hasn’t made the trip to Bakersfield.

Anderson claims his first MonTech NYGP win

Having attended all five previous runnings of the MonTech New York Grand Prix, Awesomatix’s Kemp Anderson has finally added his name to the list of Champions of the annual flagship event of the 360V2 track in New Rochelle.  Pushed hard in the rocket round qualifying by NYGP organiser Donny Lia, the 22-year-old would emerge as the Top Qualifier of the AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified class ahead of Lia and Xray’s Keven Hebert.  With a single 8-minute to decide who would be the new Champion, the two 2023 World Championship finalists where in a class of their own quickly gapping the rest of the 10 car field with their world class level of driving.  With Lia all over the rear of his A12X, running slightly wide coming onto the straight was the only invitation Lia needed to go to the front just after the two & a half minute mark.  Such was the leaders pace however, they where quickly upon traffic with the leader finding himself with nowhere to go as a back-marker tried to recover from a crash.  Hitting the car and in turn hit from behind by Anderson, when everything settled it was the pole sitter that was back in front.  With a mistake from Lia giving Anderson breathing space and dropping the New Yorker down to third behind Hebert, Anderson would lap everyone up to second place.  With Lia getting back passed Hebert with a minute & a half left on the clock, the attention was then on the battle for third, fourth place qualifier Max Mächler getting passed Hebert with 5 laps to make it an all Awesomatix podium by 0.044 of a second.

Anderson Top Qualifier at MonTech NYGP

Kemp Anderson is the 1:12 Modified Top Qualifier at the sixth edition of the Montech New York Grand Prix, the Awesomatix driver securing pole position for tomorrow’s single main with his time from the penultimate round of qualifier at the 360v2 track in New Rochelle.  With Donny Lia putting himself right in the picture after leading Q3 for a time, he would go on to top the fourth & final qualifier but would come up short on the TQ pace.  His time from the previous round will see the NYGP organiser line-up P2 in the final followed by Keven Hebert, the Xray driver finally getting his car set-up to where the Canadian has a chance of adding the NYGP title to his 2024 ROAR Nationals title.  Having surprised himself by holding the overnight TQ after topping Q1, 1:12 Spec World Champion Max Mächler with line up P4 on the AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified grid ahead of the Prodigy of Josh Cyrul and CRC of Andrew Knapp.  In the eXcelerate 13.5 1:12 class it is Lia who is your Top Qualifier from IFMAR President Eric Anderson.  The Speedzone Modified Touring Car class sees Hebert lead away the grid tomorrow thanks to the Canadian’s Q3 time which Kemp Anderson came very close to toppling in Q4.

Pressure from Lia sees Anderson up pace in Q3

An impressive performance from Donny Lia in the penultimate round of qualifying at the Montech New York Grand would force Kemp Anderson to up the pace in Q3 to hold on to the top spot in the event’s AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified class with another new fastest time in rocket round qualifying format.  A non-starter in the second round of qualifying as he switches between racer and event organiser, Lia, boosted by his 1:12 Stock TQ run in Q2, would lay down a very strong run until a mistake was enough to put Anderson back on top of the timing screens, the pair separated by 0.328 of a second at the end of the 8-minutes.  The only driver to manage 54-laps in Q2, he would better that time by almost 4.5-seconds with Lia becoming only the second driver to 54 laps of the 360v2 track.  Behind, Josh Cyrul would take his Prodigy 12 to the third fastest time ahead Keven Hebert and Friday’s Q1 pace setter Max Mächler, the later two having difficult runs.
