Ioannidis & Oikonomou are Greek Champions – Report

Last weekend, the fouth & final round of the Greek Nationals in 1:10 EP Touring took place in the fast track of Fanatix Racing Track(FRT) located in Stamata, Greece. The weather was cool with temperatures not exceeding 21oC. In the Touring Modified class, the battle for the championship was on between reigning champion Dimitris Ioannidis (Awesomatix), Andreas Koutras (Mugen-Seiki) and Nitro champion Dimitris Dimitriou (Xray) for the championship. Ioannidis had not participated in Round 2 as he was hospitalized while Koutras opted out from Round 1 and Dimitriou had participated in all rounds securing podium finishes in the first 3 races but had to hope for a not-good result from Ioannidis who had 2 out of 2 wins+2 TQs and Koutras who had one win and a P2. In qualifying, Ioannidis was able to take pole position winning Q1, Q3, and Q5 with a very solid and consistent drive while encountering issues with his powertrain resulting in significant fading in power. Koutras also showed competitive speed as he saved tires, taking Q2 and Q4 securing P2 on the grid while Dimitriou would line up P3 on the grid after displaying some very good speed too.

Jefferies wins EWS International

Recent Awesomatix signing Olly Jefferies has won the EWS International.  Part of the popular indoor winter series in the UK, the International race again attracted a number of top international racers with the TQ going to France touring car ace Lucas Urbain.  Making it a strong qualifying for Awesomatix, Urbain’s team-mate Jefferies secured P2 on the grid ahead of the Mugen of Ronald Völker and Xray of Kyle Branson.  In the triple finals it was a tough day at the office for Urbain with A1 resulting in a DNF as 2022 Champion Volker took the win from Branson and Schumacher’s Elliott Harper.  A2 saw Jefferies win ahead of Volker and Urbain putting everything on the line for A3.  In a repeat of the Top 4 of A2, Jefferies lead the field home to claim the outright win with Volker and Branson completing the Modified podium.  In Pro-Stock and FWD, German visitor Stefan Schulz had the perfect weekend taking the TQ and victory in both categories for Xray.

Awesomatix A800R new parts release

Awesomatix has released a number of new parts for it A800 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  A new Rear Belt Tensioner for A800R mounts on the chassis right behind the motormount further reducing belt skipping on the rear pulley and extends the lifespan of the belts.  They also have a new APS Additional Progressive Spring set which is designed for use on A800R.  Progressive conical tapered springs of the APS set press on the lower suspension arms and add a progression into the suspension spring rate.  Test results showed more consistent lap times with improved overall feeling on the low-med grip asphalt and carpet tracks.  Two types of springs are included in the APS set – SPR-P1 spring, adding ~13 gf/mm average suspension rate on the wheel and a slight progression, and SPR-P2 spring, adding ~20 gf/mm average suspension rate on the wheel and increased progression.  The SPR-P1 spring is mainly recommended on the rear end of the car, while the SPR-P2 is recommended for the front end of the car.  It is also possible to add only the progression into suspension rate without increasing the total average suspension rate.  In that case you should soften the main leaf springs settings by 13gf/mm when using SPR-P1 and 20gf/mm in case of SPR-P2 usage.

Isaacs does double at MonTech NYGP

The annual MonTech New York Grand Prix took place over the weekend where Awesomatix driver Sam Isaacs stamped his authority on the fifth running of the event with victory in both Mod 1:12 and Touring Car.  Held at 360v2 RC in New Rochelle, New York, 1:12 qualifying would see Isaacs secure the TQ with his Q4 run from Donny Lia, Kemp Anderson and Keven Hebert.   With a single 8-minute final to decide the winner, Lia would find a way passed the pole sitter after 16-laps holding it for 20-laps before going out of the race which allowed Isaacs to win by a 2.4-seconds margin from Anderson and Hebert.  In Touring Car,  Isaacs was also the Top Qualifier and in the single 5-minute final led from start to finish to win by almost one & a half seconds from ROAR Champion Herbert and Anderson, the Top 3 remaining unchanged to how they qualified.

Ronnefalk takes 2 Swedish Onroad National titles

Former 1:8 Offroad World Champion David Ronnefalk added not one but two Swedish National Onroad titles to his CV today, being crowned the Electric Touring Car and 1:8 Onroad Nitro Champion in Stockholm.  Not a complete stranger to electric touring car, Ronnefalk would win the TQ and title for Awesomatix ahead of established touring car stars Alexander Hagberg and Viktor Wilck.  A somewhat surprise announcement as an ARC team driver in 1:8 Onroad in April, the reigning 1:8 Offroad European Champion is pretty much a rookie in the sport’s longest established category.  Also starting on pole for the half hour final, he would go on to win ahead of Alexander Andersson and Niclas Nilsson for what would be his 23rd Swedish National title!  While an impressive performance, Ronnefalk will switch his attention back to Offroad as he prepares to defend his Euros title for Mayako in Redovan, Spain, in early September.

Awesomatix Touring Car & 1:12 parts

Awesomatix has released new option parts for its Touring Car and 1:12 kits. For its A800 Touring Car platform are new P63-R Damper Pistons for use in D3 and D2.2 Dampers (D2.2 requires AT41-2 Damper Vanes).   With a new improved design they give even better volume compensation and sealing of the dampers.  These Pistons are made of special anti sticking rubber.  The result is more smooth and consistent operating of the dampers.  For their A12 1:12 chassis, they have added new 6 degree Alloy Steering Block Posts.  With the use of these parts, the weight is reduced 2,3g/pcs compared to the std. steel ST1208/ST1207 steering post combination.  ST1207 Steering Block Tubes are not needed with ST1208-C6AL use.

Isaacs defends ROAR Electric Onroad Paved National title

Sam Isaacs has successfully defended his ROAR Electric Onroad Paved National title, the Awesomatix driver taking the win from the Mugen of Jacob Cruz and Xray’s Keven Hebert.  Racing at Coral Springs RC Track in South Florida, Isaacs dominated qualifying taking all four rounds to secure the overall TQ from Hebert, Xpress driver Felix Law and Cruz.  Continuing his form in the finals, Isaccs wrapped with the title with wins in A1 & 2 allowing him to sit out A3.   While Hebert would take that win, second places in all three mains was enough for Cruz to secure the runner-up spot with Hebert having to settle for the final podium placing.
