O’Donnell Z01-B 1/8th scale buggy

O’Donnell Z01-B 1/8th scale buggy

It’s been a long time coming but O’Donnell have finally released information about their new 1/8th scale 4wd buggy, called the Z01-B. A long time in testing by team driver Jared Tebo, the car has had a lot of success on the track yet very little information has been seen about the car so far, with the exception of some photographs. The Z01-B is said to the most dependable, durable, consistent buggy platform ever created for 1/8 scale nitro buggy racing and while no definite release date was given, expect it soon.

More O’Donnell buggy pictures

O'Donnell buggy

Extreme RC magazine have some more pictures of the new O’Donnell buggy, taken at last weekends Dirt Nitro Challenge in which the car finished 2nd overall in the buggy A-main in the hands of Jared Tebo. Last week we showed you the full picture set as taken by R/C Car magazine but these 2 pictures dont have a huge watermark on them and therefore show some parts very clearly.

First Pictures – O’Donnell Buggy

O'Donnell Buggy

Ok, so we are not claiming to have the first pictures of the O’Donnell buggy but that these pictures we have here are the first of the buggy that Jared Tebo has helped develop along with the O’Donnell team. Whether this buggy would ever be finished has been questioned many times but now as you can see its near completion and R/C Car magazine have gotten the scoop and judging by the oversized watermark they have on all the photos, they are very proud of that fact and so they they should be. What you can see of the buggy, underneath the watermark, is a very refined and nicely finished buggy with C-hubs, carbon shock towers front and rear, very beefy suspension arms and the option of gold anodised machined shock towers, it looks good.

The latest on the O’Donnell buggy

O'Donnell buggy

Our partners Neo-Buggy have some nice pictures of Jared Tebos O’Donnell buggy from yesterdays Nitro Challenge race that we briefly wrote about due to it being the first race for the Associated RC8. Not a lot has been heard from the OD buggy in a while and it appeared that the whole project may have been scraped when development driver Tebo started running a Jammin buggy late last year. But it appears the project is still on and the as you can see in the image above, the car looks to be sporting some fairly final looking parts, well at least on the rear end that we can see. Also according to Philip over at camp Neo Buggy, the body appears to be new, and an O’Donnell creation as well.

To view more pics of the car in action check them out here.

The future of the O’Donnell buggy

O Donnell buggy

Philip over at Neo-Buggy has written a nice piece concerning the future of the O’Donnell buggy after development driver and long time sponsored O’Donnell racer Jared Tebo switched to a Jammin X1 buggy at this weekends RC Pro finals and with it, went on to take TQ and the win. The O’Donnell buggy seems to have been flattered by Tebo’s skills, even so the pairing hadn’t won anything together, and then to be competitive straight away with the X1 goes to prove how uncompetitive the O’Donnell buggy actually must be.

Announced in January with huge hype of 2005’s man of the year Jared Tebo being the only driver; things looked good. However as we have all read, seen and experienced its all gone a bit off the rails…
