Awesomatix A800 1.6mm Top Decks

Awesomatix has released new options of Top Decks for its A800 1:10 Electric Touring Car platform for use with its AM177 motor mounts.  The two special versions of top decks are made from 1.6mm carbon material and are recommended for lower grip conditions to enhance more overall grip.  The C127SR version includes a bulkhead brace which increases rear end grip.  Awesomatix recommend the use of ST24S ball studs to secure the rear toe links to ensure adequate clearance between top deck screws and toe links ball studs.  Alternatively, the kit’s ST24 ball studs can be shortened/sanded down to provide the required clearance.  For its 1:12 platform, Awesomatix has also released new Arm Ball Caps, the latest version features an enlarged top opening to ensure proper clearance for the upper keyhole on AT21 models.  In addition, it includes a small recess on the top lip to allow easier removal of optional Suspension Arm O-Rings.

Elias doubles at South American Championships

Brazilian Nitro Onroad stalwart Flavio Elias completed a double at the long running South American Championships winning both the 1:8 Onroad and 1:8 GT titles in Argentina over the weekend.  Going into this year’s event as the defending GT champion having won that title, and finished 3rd in 1:8 Onroad, at the World’s host track CACH in Chile in 2025, the Capricorn/Ielasi Tuned driver kicked off the action at the Mendoza track by securing the GT TQ from Chile’s Alvaro Jara.  In 1:8 Onroad he would also take the TQ this time ahead of Argentina’s Emilio Lanzilotta.  In the 45-minute GT final, the 2025 IFMAR GT World Championship podium finisher would take a dominant win ahead  of Jara who had a close battle with third place Franco Anderlucci.  The 1:8 Onroad final would also see the 1:8 Onroad World Finalist be the class of the field to lead home Lanzilotta with Alexandro Giardino completing the podium.

Zalewski defends MIBO 2WD title

Xray’s Bartek Zalewski has successfully defended his 2WD Buggy title at MIBO International, the young Polish racer wrapping up the overall win with two straight wins in the opening A-Mains at the Czech Republic event.  Having secured the TQ for the fourth edition of the Michal Bok organised race ahead of Michal Orlowski, A1 would see his compatriot armed with fresh tyres mount a strong challenge but a cool headed drive from Zalewski meant he kept that challenge at bay.  In A2 it was the 19-year-old who had the tyre advantage and he was able to cruise to win by a comfortable margin to lock in a very popular overall victory.  With another second place to Zalewski securing Orlowski the overall runner-up but the upcoming 4WD title still up for grabs, Orlowski would along with the re-crowned Champion sit out A3 to focus on his 4WD quest.  This left team-mate & 3rd place qualifier Daniel Kobbevik to lead away the 8-car field.  Despite coming under the close attentions of Sworkz’s Micha Vidmaier for most of the race, the 2025 Top Qualifier & Runner-up would win A3 to complete the podium line-up in Hrotovice.

New electronics for Matsukura as ORCA departure announced

Multiple 1:12 and 1:10 Electric Touring Car World Champion Naoto Matsukura has announced his depart from ORCA, the Japanese star having been with the electronics brand since 2020.  Having played a big role in ORCA’s recent pre World Championship preparations, including staying on for a number of days of testing with engineer Frankie Lui after his Asia Nitro Party win at Hongyu GDC last month, Matsukura made the announcement on his social media.  He posted, ‘I started with Team ORCA in 2020, and after almost 6 years together, my contract will come to an end in February.  I’m grateful for all the support and help throughout this time.  Special thanks to Michael Lo, Frankie Lui and Keith!’  With the start of the IFMAR Electric Onroad World Championship just a month away, and the Infinity driver having shown some good pace when he TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the FEMCA Asian Championships hosted by the world’s track in December, it will be interesting to see which brand he will represent given the current battle of the electronics brands for supremacy.
