Sworkz SB800 Twin Power Offroad Starterbox

Sworkz has introduced its new SB800 Twin Power Starter Box that has been specially developed for off-road use. With its two 775 engines, it is one of the most powerful starter box on the market. The structure of the box is simple and very robust. The starter contacts and the starting mechanism have been tested for longevity and flawless function in tough racing conditions. A newly developed battery holder allows the use of different battery variants with Sworkz recommending a single 4S Lipo or 2 x 2S Lipos for optimal power supply. As standard, the SB800 is intended for 2x2S with XT60 connections. Depending on the battery configuration, different adapter cables can be used (EC5, T-connector, etc.) The two 775 motors drive the starter pulley via high-strength toothed belts. Manufactured from non-marking rubber, this disc can be easily replaced if necessary. The aluminium housing of the SB800 is coated and finished with a dynamic Sworkz design. With the 4 plastic brackets supplied, the most diverse chassis shapes can be optimally positioned on the SB800 so it can be used for numerous 1:8 off-road vehicles. A fault-prone main switch was deliberately omitted. The carrying handle has a holder for the glow plug connector.

Avid Alu and Steel 5.5mm wide/5mm Bore Pinions

New from Avid are these pinions that are specifically designed for the drag racing scene using 4 pole motors with 5mm bore shafts.  What makes these pinion unique is that Avid made the teeth 5.5mm wide instead of the tapered teeth that end up being around 4mm.  This allows for more surface area resulting in fewer stripped gears, especially when you mate this pinion with Kimbrough spur gears.  The pinions are available made out of 7075-T6 aluminium & hard-anodised to reduce wear and friction, as well as steel.  In drag racing, the choice between aluminium and steel pinions often comes down to the specific needs and goals of the vehicle.  The majority of racers opt for aluminium pinions due to their lighter weight, which results in quicker acceleration.  However, in cases where the vehicle experiences difficulties maintaining traction or keeping its nose down during launches, a steel pinion may be a better option.  Steel pinions help balance the vehicle by limiting torque at the start, thereby improving horsepower and top-end speed.

The motor mount positions the motor low and forward in the chassis for improved weight distribution.  It also allows you to underdrive the rear axle via servo or to manually lock the rear axle in 1:1 or underdrive.

Redcat RDS Competition Spec Drift car Builder’s Kit

On the back of the release of their all new Ready to Run RDS 1:10 Competition Spec Drift car, Redcat is to also offer the RWD chassis as a Builder’s Kit.  The RDS builders kit requires assembly and does not include a body, motor, ESC, radio system, steering servo, gyro, battery or charger.  The kit is intended for serious drifters who want to build a capable drift chassis that they can add all of their favourite electronics and 200mm body to.  The RDS can be set up for three different battery sizes; a competition style 2S shorty LiPo pack, LCG 2S shorty pack, or a standard sized 2S stick pack.

Ongaro signs with Matrix Racing Tires

Back to back 1:8 Offroad World Champion Davide Ongaro has signed with Matrix Racing Tires.  Having raced for 5-years with AKA and won both his World titles with the American brand, the Italian joins fellow Italian Cristian Boni’s brand as the establish Onroad tyre producer ventures into the Offroad market.  Making the announcement on social media, Matrix posted, ‘Who can explore the universe better than the best Driver in the world? Only the multiple times World Champion.  Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleasure to introduce you Mr. Davide Ongaro. Davide has signed with Matrix Offroad Tires and his work it will be important for us and all our customers… Just Stardust on Offroad Tracks!’  Adding to the news on his own social media the factory Team Associated driver said, “I want to say a big thanks to Boni Cristian and all Matrix crew for the help and support they will give to us, I’m super happy to joint this team and ready for a new adventure. O.S. SPEED R2105 .21 Onroad Engine

O.S. Engines has released the latest version of its 1:8 Onroad World Championship winning engine, the R2105.  The O.S. SPEED R21 series took the Mugen of Shoki Takahata to the World title in the US at the end of 2019 and in a year that he will try to defend that title in Japan at the Infinity International RC Speedway, the Japanese engine manufacturer has redesigned most of the parts that make up the R2105.  To increase torque on high-grip track surfaces, a newly designed 9-port sleeve is adopted.  O.S. SPEED’s traditional DLC coated crankshaft delivers linear power from low to top by changing the counter balance.  The outer head has been mirror finish and by clear coat from the conventional colour to a silver head base has been adopted.  By adopting a thrust plate made out of steel, wear due to interference between the connecting rod and the cover plate during rotation is reduced and engine life is improved.

Infinity Carrying Bags

Creation Model has introduced two new Infinity bags for hauling all your racing gear around to tracks.  The carrying black bag with bright red straps is offered in a standard 2 box and large 3 box option.  The included boxes are made of plastic, which offer more durability and water-resistance than ordinary cardboard boxes and they fit 1:8 nitro onroad cars perfectly, together with tires and parts which can also be stored in an organised manner. The side opening has a double zipper for ease of use.
