Protoform tease new on-road body shells

Following a first teaser image of their all-new Turismo body shell, Protoform have given another hint on the new 1/10th scale body while also announcing the release of their latest 1/8th scale IC Track lid. The Turismo 1/10th 190mm body is understood to be Protoform’s latest go on the recent LCG/high downforce body trend that has produced some very extreme designs the recent months. Protoform has basically started the idea with the already iconic Type-S, however they seem to have lost some ground due to a very proactive European brand and are now trying to catch up again with the Turismo. As for the X-15 body, the shell is coming right on time for the forthcoming IFMAR 1/8th IC Track World Championship that will be held on home soil at the Steel City RC Speedway in Fontana, California later this year. Full details of both bodies will become available on Monday, the 15th of July.

Protoform Europa M M-chassis body shell

After the success of the Europa for 190mm FWD touring cars, Protoform now bring a scaled-down version to the ever-popular M-Chassis, the Europa M. The body takes styling cues from popular European hot hatches competing in full-scale TCR classes around the globe. With aggressive fender flares and a slammed hatchback roofline, the Europa is bound to make a statement at your track. At the rear of the body, moulded-in wing platforms support the add-on nylon wing struts and wing to complete the super scale look. The body will fit M-chassis in both 210mm and 225mm wheelbases. Marked inside each wheel well are centre points to trim your wheel openings. Just use the included wheel well tracing templates, lining them up on the “+” markings for 225 or “—” markings for 210mm. The Europa M is produced in our high-quality, lightweight polycarbonate for a low centre of gravity, and includes a detailed decal sheet with windshield header and number plates, window masks, and paint-then-peel overspray film.

Protoform introduce the Spec6

New from Protoform, the Spec6 is a fresh new take on the classic Speed6 body that captured the 2008 Worlds at the hands of Marc Rheinard. While modern 190mm touring car bodies have gone the way of low-slung, ultra high-downforce designs, there is still a need for the more traditional, rounder and mellow-handling bodies for spec classes or track layouts with large sweeping corners. The Spec6 provides an ultra-smooth, high-corner speed feel, especially crucial in lower-power classes with handout motors. The Spec6 has been brought up to 2019 standards with increased flat surface area behind each wheel opening to allow for more forward mounting. This is made easier with the added Mounting Marks scribed into each wheel opening in 2mm increments. Available in 2 weight options, X-lite (65g) and lightweight (85g).

Protoform X-Lite 190mm touring car bodies

Protoform have introduced their new X-Lite 190mm touring car body shells with the popular Type-S, D9, LTC-R and MS7 all being available in the new ultra lightweight variant. With high-grip surfaces such as CRC black carpet now the norm, the weight of 190mm touring car bodies is more crucial than ever. X-Lite bodies will help lower the CG of the car even further than the PRO-Lite types, resulting in better, more responsive handling, less traction roll, and faster lap times. This means Protoform now offers a total of three different body shell weights with the 0.7mm thick “Light Weight” being the standard variant, ideal for races that enforce minimum body weights – such as the ETS – followed by the lighter “PRO-Lite” and ultra lightweight 0.5mm thin “X-Lite” types.

Protoform universal body stiffener kit

Coming from Protoform is a universal body stiffener kit for the use on 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC car bodies. The same simple, easy-to-use stiffeners that have been included with Protoform’s World Championship-winning 1/8th on-road bodies for years are now available on their own. They will help reinforce the side panels of 1/8th on-road or 1/10th Pro10 bodies to keep them from fluttering down the straightaway. With some trimming, they can also be used on the front corners of 1/12th scale Pro-Lite bodies to prevent the front fenders from catching on the carpet at high speeds. The stiffeners can be attached using either – optional –  M3 screws, or high-strength double sided tape.
