Sonic 2021 PS.12 PSS engine

Sonic Nitro Engines have released the updated PS.12S 2,11ccm engine. The 2021 variant sports a new crankcase which is made by die-casting to avoid blowholes as well as an updated cooling head, piston-sleeve set and crankshaft to fit the new crankcase. As the engine is used as the mandatory engine at various events across Europe, like the McBest Cup in Switzerland or the Pro Stock Series and Nitro West Masters in Germany, they have kept the price at a very competitive level to attract beginners and amateur racers. The first batch is already sold out but the next batch is available very soon.

Sonic SB.21-5T buggy engine

Sonic Nitro Engines have introduced their new competition buggy engine called the SB.21-5T. All components have been made from the finest materials to ensure high durability and reliability. Equipped with a 5 port sleeve and a CNC machined flat piston, the engine provides great power over the entire RPM range while having a very efficient fuel consumption which is crucial in the finals. The 14mm turbo crankshaft is equipped with two high density weights to improve the overall balance and filled with a silicone insert to reduce the inertia and improve the fuel flow. The special back plate, the optimized crankcase and the “knife edged” aerodynamic conrod help to further reduce turbulence inside the engine. A special lightweight cooling head ensures excellent heat dispersion to keep the engine temperature at a good level. High quality Swiss ball bearings, a dust protected front bearing, a modern composite valve carburettor and venturis in 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm made of aluminium complete this new high competition engine.

Sonic introduce the new EFRA #2678 exhaust pipe for .12 nitro on-road engines. Developed in cooperation with various top-drivers and successfully used by Patrick Schäfer at the Euros A and German championships, the latest Sonic pipe lowers the fuel-consumption for increased runtime while keeping a good balance of bottom end power and maximum RPM. The pipe is EFRA legal and available from now as pipe only or as a complete set including manifold, springs and silicon gasket.

Sonic Nitro Engines has released the latest version of their successful .21 engine. After extensive tests in cooperation with some of the worlds fastest drivers the Sonic X.21 engines feature the latest long stroke design offering more low and mid range power while keeping the fuel economy on a very good level. While the timing was optimized to the 16% Nitro rules, the greatest innovation is the domed top of the piston. Equipped with a 7+2 sleeve with “teardrop” work and a lightened CNC machined piston made of high percentage silicone alloy the X.21 engines sport a balanced lightweight 14mm turbo crankshaft with silicone insert to lower the rotating mass and reduce inner turbulences while the optimized backplate in the “factory-tuned” version improves the fuel flow further more.

Sonic X.12 competition nitro engine

The new Sonic X.12 is the follow-up model of the successful V.12RS engine and designed for competition 1/10th on-road racing. The engine comes with a completely redesigned 3-port sleeve with “teardrop work” and made from a new material with less “pinch” compared to last year’s engine. Additionally the engine is equipped with a “knife edge” conrod and a balanced crankshaft with a red silicone insert to reduce inner turbulences and to optimise the fuel flow. Also new is the combustion chamber insert which has a similar design to the ones used in Sonic’s .21 engine. The X.12 is equipped with Swiss ball bearings, an ultra lightweight cooling head and a composite valve carburettor with a 5.4mm aluminium venturi. The Factory Tuned engines additionally feature a fuel flow optimised back plate, and a hand-optimised crankshaft and sleeve.

The new Sonic V.12RS is the further development of the successful V.12T engine. Featuring a completely new designed 3 port sleeve with teardrop work and a domed piston for a better combustion, the overall performance of the engine is improved notably. Additionally the engine is equipped with a “knife edged” conrod and a balanced crankshaft with a red silicone insert to reduce inner turbulence and optimize the fuel flow. Like the new 3,5ccm engine the V.12RS is equipped with Swiss ball bearings, a fuel-flow optimized back plate, an ultra lightweight cooling head and a composite valve carburetor with a 5.4mm aluminium venturi.

After extensive tests in cooperation with Edoardo Picco the engine features the latest long stroke ‘LS’ design offering more low and mid range power while keeping the fuel economy on a very good level. Equipped with a 7+2 sleeve with teardrop design and a lightened CNC-machined piston made of high percentage silicone alloy the engine sports a balanced lightweight 14mm turbo crankshaft with silicone insert to lower the rotating mass and reduce inner turbulences while the optimised backplate improves the fuel flow even more. A special finned turbo combustion chamber and the super light-weight cooling head ensure best heat dispersion to keep the engine temperature at a moderate level. High quality Swiss ball bearings, a modern composite valve carburettor as well as 8mm and 9mm venturi inserts make this engine ideal for competitive racers.

Sonic V.12T Ielasi tuned engine

Sonic have released the ‘Ielasi tuned’ version of their V.12T 2,11ccm engine. Ielasi tuned engines are the top of the line Sonic ‘V’ engines, hand-modified by former World and European Champion Daniele Ielasi. Years of experience and a great passion for nitro racing allow the Sonic factory driver to make a good product even better. The crankshaft has an more aggressive timing for an improved performance while maintaining a very efficient fuel consumption realized by an optimized fuel flow. Special tear-drop work at the sleeve improves the fuel flow, further helping to reduce inner turbulence.
