Xray Narrow Aluminium pinion gears

Xray Narrow Aluminium pinion gears

Xray have introduced their new line of narrow pinions, manufactured on a specially-modified precision gear machine which has ultra-precise tolerances and assures unparalleled concentricity. After machining, the edges of pinions are chamfered and then the pinions are run in and then specially treated to give them an even hardcoating so they stay absolutely true for a long time. The pinions run great with any spur gears, and work perfectly with Xray spur gears where even throttle on/off noise nearly disappears. These new 40T, 42T, 44T, 46T, 48T and 50T 64-pitch narrow high-performance pinion gears are manufactured from special lightweight aircraft duraluminium are 1.5mm thinner and 25% lighter than the regular-size pinion gears.

Carlos Durães confirmed at Xray

Carlos Duraes confirmed at Xray

We just reported on him winning the season opener in Portugal, but now Xray have confirmed that young Portugese driver Carlos Durães has joined their team. The Portuguese Cup champion and Junior National Champion had the following to say about his new deal:

I’m glad and honoured that I can be part of such a team like Xray, team that is composed with great drivers, persons and of course Juraj and Martin Hudy themselves near the team in the races. Xray is one of the best or the best R/C model products available today, with great performance, design, reliability and of course the Xray known quality. Since the first day of testing the XB808 2010 version, I felt quicker, better and confident, the car is amazing and I’m really happy with it. It jumps like none other and it flies within the track.

Xray Column – 2010 Racing Calendar

Xray Column - 2010 Racing Calendar

The 39th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column the company outlines its race plans for the new season, showing which events you can expect to meet the factory team at throughout 2010.

Besides the daily tasks with R&D, leading the factory and the staff, there are the racing and testing activities which take up the majority of my time. As such, the 2010 racing schedule is the one I have the biggest respect for. The preliminary race calendar – which will most certainly change with many more races added – is absolutely the most crowded schedule I have ever experienced. It seems that I will be out of the office on the races or practices for more than half of the year!

Toy Fair 2010 – Xray

Xray 808E

Having already published the press releases of the company’s new products we all know what to expect on the Xray stand this year. We asked further regarding the 808E brushless 1/8th scale and were told that they are still currently testing configurations of the layout of the electrics in the car. As you can see in the photos, there is a version that has the receiver mounted forward together with a stand up steering servo, but they are also trying a version with a lay down steering servo and receiver mounted in the center. The weight balance is so critical with the brushless cars and this is something Xray have spent a lot of time trying to get right in order for it to fly straight and even. The 808E also has its own specific chassis plate which sees all the gas related mounting holes removed. Finally the car will not use a mechanical brake but will plan on offering a slipper diff as an option in the future.
