Introducing Red RC China

Introducing Red RC China

Most of you will have noticed a lot of changes on Red RC over the past few weeks as we update our network of websites to utilise a new mobile friendly responsive design. With close to 50% of our visitors now using smart phones or tablets to access the latest RC news, with that percentage even higher in Asia, we created this new design to give visitors an optimised experience on all platforms. Which leads us to some very exciting news, which many of you will already have noticed, is that we have created a new Chinese language site, now available at www.redrc.cn. We believe that China is the next big growth market in RC and so we have established a company in Hong Kong with an editorial team in mainland China. Currently we are translating news from RedRC.net into Chinese but going forward we plan to publish product news and race reports that are specific to this region of the world with our aim to help grow the market in mainland China while also serving localised news to other Chinese speaking regions such as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The site has been live for a few weeks and after ironing out some kinks we are now happy to officially announce it.

IDEA – Andreas Myrberg Column #3

IDEA – Andreas Myrberg Column #3

Racing RC cars is something we all love. There are many great things about it. Today I want to take up one thing which is essential but many times overlooked. Going to races and experience many different places at the same time. During my time as RC professional and the last years promoting my own brand I have visited a wide range of tracks, locations, countries to go racing. Thanks to RC I have seen the world. Maybe not so much sightseeing done but still seen a lot. Me and my dad started to go to races within Sweden first of course and after some years we went to Norway and Denmark neighbour countries of Sweden. As I got better the more I traveled to get to bigger races, making a name of myself and having fun racing and experiencing things no longer possible only in Sweden. We started to go to further.

Why are Touring Car drivers the ‘best’ drivers? Or to put it differently, if you make it in touring you can make it anywhere. Yes, now a lot of you are upset, I understand but give me some of your time and I will try to explain why, as well as try to back this statement up. First of all how do you define a Touring Car driver? Especially the world class drivers, as most drivers have driven many different classes during their careers. So maybe I should write, why is it that so many drivers who succeed in Touring Car racing ALSO have great results in other classes also? There are definitely more of those, than drivers from other classes who ALSO make it in Touring Cars. So I need to give some examples.

I have many times told the story of how I got my first SBF license (The Swedish license you need to go racing). Since my dad was a hard core RC racer before I was even born he wanted his son to get into RC as early as possible. So 2 weeks after my birth he called SBF and applied for a driving license. However I was not in the system yet (this was 1980) so he had to wait. Two months later I was in the system and I got my first SBF license and was allowed to race. Why am I telling this story? Well I just wanted you to know that I have been around since before I can remember.

Cesare Rossi (1935 – 2015)

Cesare Rossi (1935 - 2015)

It is with a deep sadness that we announce that one of the RC industry’s pioneers, Cesare Rossi, has passed away today. Founder of Novarossi, he dedicated his entire life to the production and the development of RC engines, his first success dating back to 1959 when he won the airplane World Championship. After starting his own model shop in 1966, he managed the growth of his business that led to the birth of Novarossi in 1984. Having played a major role in the winning of countless World, European and National titles, he established his brand in the market and was honoured with the title of “Cavaliere del Lavoro” by the Italian government in 1999. A leading innovator in the sport some of his creations include the “turbo” glow plug, the offset ball bearing and more recently the shifted carburettor. He is survived by his wife Graziosa, his sons Mario and Sergio and his daughter Elisa. Red RC would like to express our condolences to the Rossi family.
