SMC Totemic brushless stock motors

SMC have introduced their new Totemic brushless stock motors. Development focus has been on producing a solid platform that does not fade and still produces maximum output thanks to an optimised coil resistance. The Totemic family of motors include 13.5, 17.5 and 21.5 turn motors, each comes fitted with a 12.5mm rotor with the strongest magnets available. 12.3mm rotors are available for those looking for a bit more RPM. All motors come with pure copper solder tabs and collector ring, each gold plated for the best resistance and minimum oxidization. The motors are ROAR approved and available now.

Fenix 12th gear diff, X1 Ti front axles & 17.5T motor

Coming from Fenix Racing are several new parts such as a gear differential for 1/12th scale pan cars, a set of titanium front axles for the Xray X1 and a 17.5T brushless stock motor. Starting with the gear differential, the unit is based on Fenix’s poplar 1/10th gear diff and it features a Grade 5 titanium axle, ABEC 5 class 1/4×3/8×1/8 ball bearings and it utilises a 84T 64 pitch main gear. The prototype already showed some great performance with a 3rd place in the highly competitive 10.5T class at the recent Masters of Foam race in the hands of Jaques Libar.

Kyosho Le Mans 240S 60A brushless speed controller

Kyosho have introduced the Le Mans 240S brushless speed controller. The ESC is housed in a compact cast aluminium case and it is designed for the use with 2S to 3S LiPo batteries and down to 13.5T sensored brushless motors. A widely enclosed design makes the 60A rated speedo ideal for off-road and on-road applications alike. The controller measures 37.5x31x18.5mm and it comes pre-wired with 14AWG wire and a T-plug connector.

Hobbywing XeRun 3652 & 3660 SD G2 sensored motors

Hobbywing have introduced their new XeRun 3652 and 3660 SD G2 sensored brushless motors. Equipped with a built-in chip that lets Hobbywing XR8 series brushless controllers recognise the motor, the system will provide improved performance and smoother control in sensored mode. The motor is housed in a machined aluminium case with heatsink design for optimised heat dissipation and the low cogging design with 4-pole/8-magnet setup reduces cogging for improved driving feel at lower speeds. This is further helped by a special hall sensor system that ensures clean and “error free” hall sensor output signals. On top of this the motors feature an adjustable mechanical timing in a 20 to 40 degree range and they use silicone O-ring seals for sensor port protection. The shorter 3652 motor is available as 3100kv to 6100kv variant with 3.175mm or 5.0mm output shaft while the longer 3660 variant comes in 3200kv to 4300kv specification, exclusively with 5mm output shaft.

Hobbywing XR10 Pro Stock Spec 1S speed controller

As announced in Jason Ruona’s video interview with U.S. Hobbywing representative Ron Schuur, Hobbywing have introduced the XR10 Pro Stock Spec 1S brushless speed controller. Based off of the standard Pro Stock, the 1S variant is aimed specifically towards single-cell 1/12th and 1/10th scale racing. Housed in a compact aluminium case with heatsink upper section the controller features five pre-set profiles for the most common applications but it is also highly customisable using Hobbywings LCD programming box, PC interface or WiFi Express module and a mobile device. The built-in on/off switch reduces wiring work and data logging capability makes drivetrain setup more convenient. The 80A rated ESC is only usable with 1S LiPo or three to four cell NiMH packs and it features a switch mode 6V/7.4V BEC system, doing away with the need to use additional receiver battery packs.

GForce G4 multi charger

GForce have introduced the G4 multi charger for 2S to 4S LiXX and 6 to 8 cell NiXX batteries. The compact device measures 69.4×110.7×40.5mm and it offers easy menu operation using a single switch and a push button. With up to 4A charge current the charger is good for the use even with higher capacity batteries and a dedicated LiHV mode allows to charge the latest high-voltage Lithium-Polymer packs. Included comes a variety of adapter wires including ones with Tamiya-style, T-plug and BEC connectors.

3DRC capacitor holder for LRP speed controllers

Coming from 3DRC and made for LRP speed controllers using round diameter power capacitors is a 3-D-printed capacitor mount. The simple design allows to attach the mount using double sided tape while the capacitor is held in place using a M3x3mm set screw, making for a more secure mounting of the otherwise hard to attach capacitor. The mount is available through 3DRC’s Shapeways store.
