RB CXR SLS9 V2 nitro on-road engines

Following the introduction of their 2015 nitro off-road engine range French company RB now have information on two new on-road engines available. The super long stroke CXR SLS9 V2 is available in a standard and a special Ielasi Tuned version for even higher performance. Based on the 2014 range the V2 offers a 9-port design with two by-passes, the Multi Exhaust System and two additional lubrication wholes and the engines make use of a lightened and silicone paste filled 14.5mm crankshaft with 3-weight balancing. The rear bearing is a 14.5mm ceramic race while the front 8-ball type is a standard affair. The new low centre of gravity lightweight cooling head offers 10 degree angled cooling fins for improved heat dissipation and the double adjustment carburettor comes with 9mm and 8.5mm restrictors. While looking the same from the outside – despite the Ielasi Tuned engraving on the cooling head– the powered-up version of the CXR SLS9 V2 features subtle modifications to the liner and crankshaft, made by the Italian frontrunner to extract the maximum performance from the engine.

Orcan introduce the Push Box

Orcan introduce the Push Box

New from Orcan comes the Push Box, a specially designed part to improve engine performance and mileage. Used in prototype form by Alexander Hagberg to win the 2014 IFMAR 200mm Worlds the Push Box is made to become looped in the pressure line between the exhaust and the fuel tank and it makes for a more reliable and constant engine performance especially right after refuelling when running with high fuel levels as it prevents the engine from running too rich.

Break-in Dutch develops new engine break-in method

Dutch company develops new engine break-in method

Break-in Dutch have developed what they claim is an effective new way to break-in new nitro engines. Usable with .12 to .21 engines the rotating parts of the engine are submerged in a container filled with heated oil while the crankshaft is rotated by an electric motor. The temperature and RPM is computer controlled and fluctuates in a range of up to 200 degree Celsius and up to 3,000RPM to ensure an effective yet safe breaking-in process. Additional torque vectoring control ensures the engine is broken-in correctly and it can be used on the track straight away.
