Virtual Racing Industries has added a new outdoor off-road track, the Circuit MBM in Montpellier, France. This exciting new track was created in close collaboration with the Montpellier club and it is a typical French style track carved out in the terrain. VRI’s graphics and 3D artist Tony West has delivered yet another masterpiece by capturing the right atmosphere and character of this track spot on.
Marcin Malinski has won the VRC Worlds Open Class nitro buggy title. The 25 year old Polish Team Serpent racer was the big surprise in the A-Main final as he did not compete in 2014, had no ranking and set an incredible pace right from the start of the Worlds, giving hot favourite David Ronnefalk a hard time. His 3rd place at the 2013 VRC 1/8th Nitro Buggy Worlds should have been a warning to all and his pace was so fast that there was a lot of gossip about him cheating the system. Even his result in the 60 minute A-Main was disputed five times by other racers which lead to automatic disqualification. After investigation of these protests the race director reversed the disqualification which means that the young Pole has earned his first official VRC World title. Newly signed HB team driver David Ronnefalk finished 2nd, 13 seconds behind Malinski, and the other Swede and winner of the 2014 Season 3 series, Tobias Isaksson came in 3rd, another 10 seconds down with the top 3 scoring an incredibly fast 96 laps at the difficult Naxos Worlds track in Sicily.
Martin Wollanka and Kevin Pignotti are the new VRC Worlds title holders in 1:8th Sportscars and 1:10th ISTC respectively. Martin Wollanka from Austria scored a well-deserved title in his 2014 VRC Worlds campaign after having to settle for second in the 1:10 ISTC VRC Worlds right behind Kevin Pignotti. Martin managed to turn things around in 1:8 Sportscars at the Lostallo event, driving to victory with a 4 seconds lead on Kevin Pignotti. New kid on the block Jakub Rozycki from Poland was lapped by Wollanka at the very last lap of the race when he needed a last fuel stop as to make it to the finish line in 3rd.
As promised in the November instalment of the VRC Pro column, the 2014 IFMAR 1/8 Buggy World Championship track of Naxos in Sicily is now available as are two new buggies and some other updates. Starting with the tracks, it’s a great but demanding venue with lots of challenges, just like the real track proved to be back in September. VRI have made a comparison video between some real laps during the Worlds final, and who better to pick than World Champion Ty Tessman, against one of VRC’s beta testers, Nicolas Loriot from France. As with earlier ‘virtual vs real’ comparison videos the resemblance between virtual and real is astonishing close, once more proof of the incredibly accurate detail of the track and the fantastic realism obtained with our state of the art physics engine.
In the latest instalment of their VRC Pro column Virtual Racing Industries introduce the VRC Worlds schedule and they show how realistic the RC car simulator is. Starting with the VRC Worlds schedule, six major events on three exciting tracks lay ahead. Yes, just three tracks because this year VRI have combined classes to race on the same track, just like what happens at real events. Last year, 2654 racers participated in the various classes including some really big names for the real RC racing scene, like Ronnefalk, Joor, Wollanka, Craig, Gillespie, and Lutz.
Virtual RC have just released the Pattaya off-road track for the VRC Pro RC car simulator software. The track, home of the 2010 IFMAR Worlds and the Asia Contest race, is considered to be the biggest, baddest and meanest off-road track on the planet. The track uses the 2012 layout and offers 450 meters of digital Thai dirt, daring doubles, triples and quads. The track is optimised to be used in both directions so you get 2 tracks in 1. With the release of the Pattaya track VRC Pro now features 9 full-size off-road tracks suitable for nitro buggies and short course trucks.
Team Associated introduce the XP2G radio and VRC Pro USB adapter set for those rainy days when the weather keeps you from going outside and race your RC cars. Both the adapter and radio combo come with a VRC Pro voucher providing a promotional code which gives free access to a full-option SC10 4×4 Factory Team short course truck to drive and race in the Free-to-Play VRC Pro RC racing simulator.
Virtual Racing Industries officially announce a launch date of 1:8 nitro off-road buggies hitting VRC Pro. Set for the 18th of December the latest addition to the RC car simulator comes right in time for the Holiday period. Together with this launch VRC Pro will also release four full-size off-road tracks; Psycho Nitro Blast ’12, Speed Paradise Buenos Aires, IBR Padova and the 2013 IFMAR Worlds edition of Silver Dollar Raceway. Other full size off-road tracks planned for 2014 are the NeoBuggy Harper Adams track ’13, the Pattaya 2010 Worlds track, the 2013 version of the Psycho Nitro Blast and the 2013 C-netic track.
