Protoform TR-12 1/12th scale body

Protoform TR-12 1/12th scale body

Following their sneak peek last week, Protoform have introduced their all new TR-12 1/12th scale body. Input from their team of drivers was used to improve the shape, while taking styling cues from a highly-successful factory-works hybrid LMP that made its debut at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, then went on to win 3 WEC series races. The TR-12 includes a large center ‘dorsal fin’ to improve high-speed stability for those ultra-fast modified cars. Unique spill-plate profiles and side air channels give the body an unmistakable look on the track while adding functionality. It fits all EFRA/IFMAR, BRCA, ROAR and JMRCA body rule requirements, and includes headlamp decals as per ROAR rules. The TR-12 is produced using LW .020” lexan with protective film and includes window masks and decal sheet.

VRC Pro Column – 1:8 Nitro Buggy

VRC Pro 1:8 Nitro Buggy

The VRC Pro development team is now working on the next class: 1:8 scale nitro buggies. This is a very popular class worldwide and we are expecting a great reception for this class. With the launch of 1:8 nitro buggies first quarter of 2013 we will also be releasing brand new off-road tracks, among them Silver Dollar Raceway (A Main Hobbies, Ca.), Padova IBR, Italy, Speed Paradise Buenos Aires Argentina (2012 IFMAR Worlds track) and possibly even the famous Pattaya track in Thailand (2010 IFMAR Worlds track). Starting with 1:8 scale buggies VRC Pro will introduce fully animated suspension and shocks. This required a complete overhaul of the 2 ½ D suspension geometry model to turn it into a full 3D model. The new generation of cars will have even more precise geometries and as a result car handling will become even more realistic.

Xray Column – Making the T4, Part 2

Xray Column – Making the T4, Part 2

The 65th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Martin Hudy continues to give us an insight into the track testing that went into their all new T4 touring car.

Even though Alex and I continued to test the prototype parts on carpet, the second real test came in March when Alex went to Gran Canaria for the ETS race. I was occupied with some other very important priorities at home so was unable to attend the race, leaving Alex to do all of the testing alone. In order to get in as much testing as possible, Alex arrived on the Monday leading up the race. I kept in touch with Alex via text messages during his testing period to keep up to date with his progress. After 3-4 days of testing Alex was 0.2 seconds faster with the new car than his T3 2012, and his feedback would prove valuable for the continuing development.
