Kevin Zwahlen wins at SITCC Rd2

The second round of the SITCC series was held in Grand-Saconnex, Switzerland last weekend. The event suffered from a somewhat low turnout on drivers with only 42 entries for the three classes. The Touring class however still created some entertaining races especially in the four A-main finals and in the end it was HB Racing’s Kevin Zwahlen with the win from the Xray duo of Xavier Deparde and Cham Dassanayake.

Protoform WCICS Rd4 – Report

The Protoform Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series round 4 arrived at the ocean side city of Victoria, British Columbia. Local club IROCC hosted an amazing race, with a team of volunteers in the familiar Mary Winspear Center. In Touring Modified sometimes qualifying works like an exact science, and last year’s champion Wayne Mah took a solid TQ and back to back wins, looking strong again with his new Team Associated car. Xray’s Korey Harbke battled with fellow Xray team mates Luke Pittman and Black Bell, splitting the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes across the rest of the rounds, with Luke and Korey having an awesome battle in A3, swapping the lead back and forth with Luke taking it at the end. When the dust settled, it was Wayne Mah, Korey Harbke, and Luke Pittman on the podium.

32nd Annual Electric Winter Midwest Champs – Report

One of the longest running races in RC history, the legendary Winter Midwest Championships is now in its 32nd edition and still going strong as entries nearly hit 400 this year to kick off the 2019 indoor racing season from Jeffersonville, Ohio. There was something special about this year’s event as you could feel the excitement in the air that made this year a little bit different than years past. Silly Season perhaps?! Many were anxious to hit the track and show off for their new sponsors and make a name for themselves and there’s no better way than to have an awesome outing at the legendary CRCRC. This year’s layout was a blast, pure and simple. The track dimensions cater to a long fast straightaway, but this layout featured a front straightaway that had a really technical triple, triple section. Truthfully, it tested everyone’s jump timing … including the pros.

Motiv RC signs Frank Root

Motiv RC has announced that long-time racer and Team Losi Racing engineer Frank Root will be using Motiv products in his racing efforts in 2019. Frank’s input, professionalism and his ability to showcase the brand at off-road events will be a huge help in the company’s attempt to bring Motiv products to the forefront. Frank had this to say about joining the team:

I’m beyond excited to be joining the Motiv and Gravity RC team for 2019. From my testing, I knew that Motiv motors and batteries were outstanding, and their performance will allow me to perform at the highest level. I’ve known Paul for over 15 years, and I know that anything he is involved with will not be outperformed as Paul has the tools and experience needed to win. I look forward to working with Paul and Zac Rose, as well as the rest of the team, to get dialed in quickly, and start posting top end results in the very near future.

Ryan Maifield wins at CRCRC Winter Midwest Champs

The 32nd Annual CRCRC Winter Midwest Championships were held this past weekend at The Ohio RC Factory in Jeffersonville, Ohio. CRCRC is very well known as the first big 1/10 electric off-road race at the beginning of each year and brought in an impressive 380 entries. In 4WD Modified Buggy Yokomo/Team Orion’s Ryan Maifield went onto TQ rounds 2 and 4 of qualifying to secure the overall TQ. Maifield then went onto dominate A-mains 1 and 2 by leading every lap and taking home the 4WD Modified Buggy title.

Eppley & Strange wins at JBRL Winter Series Rd3

Round 3 of the JBRL Winter Indoor Off-road Series was held at Rain-Man’s Hobby & Raceway in Bakersfield, California last weekend. In the 2WD Open Buggy class it was Kyosho’s Mason Eppley with the TQ and win in the single 6-minute A-main event. Kyosho team manager, Zachary Rogers, coming from P5 on the grid, ended the race on the runner-up spot, some 7.6s in front of Yokomo’s Tanner Ashmore in 3rd.

SWorkz Korea welcomes back Ryan Lee

SWorkz have announced the return of Ryan Lee to their Asia factory team. Running the official SWorkz distribution for Korea, Ryan also is an avid racer and he will campaign SWorkz 1/8th and 1/10th off-road kits at events around Asia. Ryan had the following to say about his comeback:

I am so proud being a part of Team SWorkz. The quality of each part is the best in the market and the chassis performance is amazing. Special thanks to Scott Yang for giving me this good opportunity. My first international race this season will be SGIP Xiamen with S353 and S353E. Can’t wait to start the new season with the SWorkz factory team!

2019 Super Cup Championship Series Rd1 – Report

Heading into its 11th year, the 2019 Super Cup started off with some great racing, great people and successful return to SS Hobbies & Raceway. The 2019 season kicked off on Saturday, with new announcer, Dave Duncan. Ronnie Setser and his crew at SS Hobbies always goes out of their way to offer the best track layout and conditions and this weekend was no different. A great new layout and perfect conditions along with amazing Florida Winter weather, even after a late start, due to some decoder box issues, everyone seemed to have a great time. The big boys would be up in 2WD Buggy Modified. Lee Setser would set TQ for the day and the top 3 in Mod Buggy would finish where they started, tone to tone. It was Lee Setser in 1st, Daimon Borkowicz in 2nd followed by Jason Ruona in 3rd.
