Orlowski tops Q1 in Warsaw

The opening round of 2wd qualifying at the 2nd round of the Euro Offroad Series in Warsaw, Poland is complete and it was local superstar Michal Orlowski who emerged quickest by some 5 seconds. The Schumacher driver headed the gaggle of former EOS champions, with Lee Martin in 2nd, Jorn Neumann in 3rd, young Norwegian Daniel Kobbevik in 4th, with Bruno Coelho completing the top 5. Speaking with Orlowski after the run he said ‘It was good, the car felt really good we didn’t change anything from practice. Obviously with new tires so the first couple of laps were edgy but then Lee had a small mistake in the first minute, Bruno crashed, so I just tried not to crash’.

Yugo Nagashima takes 2018 Speed King title

Round 6 of the 2018 Speed King Tour took place at the SRT Sagami-Do RC racing outdoor tarmac track in the Kanagawa prefecture last weekend. The event was held in a Touring Modified, Touring Stock and an Oval class with the title in the Modified and Stock classes being open until the final round. The race format saw three rounds of qualifying with the top 5 qualifiers taking part in the Super Lap session to determine the top 5 starting grid. The Modified class was hotly contested with three different drivers TQ-ing a round and in the end it was was Yokomo driver Sota Goto with the overall TQ and and also the fastest lap time in the Super Lap session as Destiny driver Yugo Nagashima came in 2nd on the grid.

JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout – Report

The 8th Annual JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout was hosted by Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri last weekend. Always a popular race and this year the WIS attracted some of the best racers in the region like super talented Mason Fuller, Tom Rinderknecht Tyler Keel, Alex Vanderbeek, Nick Gibson, Michael Twilling, Dave Alberico, and Rico Karstens. The grip is always good at Fastlane Raceway and this year’s layout for the WIS was even better. Overall, the layout was fun but not too difficult and allowed great racing in all class. TLR’s Mason Fuller and Team Associated’s Tom Rinderknecht had an epic battle in the Invitational class. Both finished the 2WD portion tied in points while Mason edged out Tom by 2 points during the 4WD portion to take the overall invitational championship. Both drivers put on a ‘next level’ show as they scored no worse than a 2nd place finish.

Xray Racing Series Poland Rd1 – Report

The first round of the 2018/19 Xray Racing Series Poland was held last weekend with about 130 drivers in attendance. For many it was the last chance to get some laps under their belt in preparation of the EOS round 2 that will be held this weekend in Warsaw. The track layout was pretty fast with nice jumps and the event attracted Poland’s super star racer, Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) along with Schumacher’s Tristam Neal. Without surprise the 2WD and 4WD Modified classes would then be dominated by Michal, who took the wins ahead of Yokomo’s Bartlomiej Zambrzycki and Xray’s Bartosz Zalewski.

2018/19 Essex Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend, with yet another sell-out entry creating a competitive and busy day. Olly Jefferies was out to extend his points lead after victory at the opening event of the series, but qualifying for the Modified class was opened up by Elliott Harper setting the pace with his Xray, ahead of recently crowned nitro onroad vice-world champion Kyle Branson (Capricorn) and Olly’s Schumacher. Alan Bickerstaff took his Associated to fourth in the round, ahead of Alex Thurston and Stefan Chodzynski. Elliott continued his form into the second qualifier, as Olly moved up to second and closed to within four-seconds of Elliott, with Alex taking a strong third in front of Stefan, with Belgian youngster Florian Joos, again making the trip over to the UK, in fifth.

Nicola Di Palma wins Winter Race Series Rd1

The opening round of the Winter Race Series was held at the RAP Carpet indoor track in Pianbosco, Italy. In the Touring Stock 13.5T class it was Nicola Di Palma with the win from Paolo Smorgon 2nd. Luigi Buffagni would round out the top 3 podium result, making it an Awesomatix 1-2-3.

2018/19 Mibosport Cup Rd2 – Report

The second round of 2018/19 Mibosport Cup was held last weekend in Hrotovice, Czech Republic. The event attracted both national and international drivers of which over 200 made their entry. The most popular classes would be 2WD and 4WD Buggy along a very strong 43 entries for the increasingly popular Formula class. The weekend kicked off with free practice on Friday followed by timed practice and an hour of open practice on Saturday morning for all drivers that missed Friday’s action. In the premier Touring Modified class Oliver Havranek, Matej Sulc, Patrick Gollner and first round winner Zdenko Kunak looked quick from the get go. The biggest challenge was between Oliver and Matej. Oliver did make the pass on Matej in A1, but did not manage to score a good result in A2. Matej however grabbed the important victory in second final and at the end he was the lucky one to stand on the top of Modified ranking list. Patrick Gollner kept Zdenko behind and took at least the 3rd spot while Zdenko Kunak had to satisfy himself with 4th place overall. The top 5 was completed by Andreas Stiebler.

Devoll & Champlin win at Fall Classic Race

Coyote Hobbies of Victorville, California held their 2018 Fall Classic Race this past weekend at their indoor dirt track facility. The event attracted over 170 entries and in 2WD Open Buggy it was Ron Devoll with the TQ after the qualifiers and the win in the 6-minute single A-main event. A lap down it was Jeremy Hase Jr., coming from the 8 spot on the grid, who snatched the runner-up spot some 4.5 seconds in front of Blake Champlin.
