2017 EFRA 1/10th Electric Track Euros – Report

The 2017 EFRA 1/10th Electric Track European Championship was held this weekend in Almussafes, Spain. Unseasonable rain here in Spain put the drivers, and their cars, in a spin at the finals on Saturday until the sun came out and normal service was resumed. In ISTC Modified Touring and with the first A-final held about 90 minutes after the rain stopped grip was beginning to return to the Almusafes track. However neither of the front row starters could find any traction and it was P3 starter Marc Rheinard who shot into the lead, which he held for the entire five minutes. Behind him runner-up after the qualifiers, Bruno Coelho clung on to his 2nd place starting position, but pole man Ronald Volker had a nightmare spinning out four times before retiring from the race.

BRCA 1/8th Circuit National Series Rd4 – Report

Round four of the BRCA 1/8th Circuit National Series was held at the famous Mendip circuit near Weston Super Mare. It is a circuit famous for its Diggers dip before the main straight and it has seen many big names in the RC world race here down the years, including some of Europe’s Elite in the 90s. Race day was sunny and tyre wear was extremely high with the track surface very abrasive. Top international racer Mark Green was one noticeable absentee from the top heat and meant it would be a closer affair between the top nitro guys. In total, around fifty drivers were competing across the two classes with the electric class now not far off being as popular as nitro.

Sobue & Lee win at Asia Onroad Championship Rd2

Round 2 of the Asia Onroad Championship was held at the famous TRC circuit in Hong Kong. This time, for the sake of variety and the driver’s opinion, the organisers had decided to use the bigger GP track for the event. This was a much welcomed move, as it was very fun to drive as a result of its bigger size and high grip levels. Unfortunately, the event was struck by heavy rain showers throughout but the organisers were able to be flexible with the schedule, to allow drivers to get most of their runs in. The Touring Modified finals were rather eventful and ultimately it was Infinity’s Akio Sobue who walked away with the win from teammate Naoto Matsukura in 2nd and Xray’s Alexander Hagberg 3rd.
