Joel Eaton wins Super Stock Buggy at April Fools Classic

The April Fools Classic hosted by Murf’s Intermountain R/C Raceway for the past 29 years hit a record high 365 entries this year. Super Stock Buggy was a nail biter for Joel Eaton (Xray). Starting from the TQ position lap 1 was perfect for him but entering the infield burm turn on lap 2 his car unexpectedly hit a bump and flipped causing the car to fly end over end onto the straightaway. Luckily for him most of the field also had issues through the 180 degree burm turn and Joel was able to rejoin in 3rd. By lap 3 he was already back in second and had a race long chase to catch leader Charley Cavalier (TLR) with in the closing stages. Pushing Charlie he made a mistake over the huge booter triple that allowed Joel to pass as he crashed. Eaton was able to hit his marks and take home the win from there, taking home the win from Charlie Cavalier 2nd and Tony Newland (Schumacher) 3rd.

AOC Rd1 – Saturday updates

The opening round of the 2017 Asian Onroad Championships is held at RCI V2 in Shanghai, China this weekend. The temperature has risen since Friday’s practice and racers have scrambled to make changes to their cars in order to cope with the hotter, more humid weather. However, with rising temps also means increasing grip levels that usually equate to faster lap times. Since this particular event is using the rocket round system, round 2 was said to be the golden track as tomorrow’s weather is forecasted for heavy rain and humidity in the 90% range. After setting the fastest time in round 1, Infinity’s Naoto Matsukura would lose his TQ to teammate Akio Sobue in round 2 who ran a 29 lap 5:01.89.
