It takes many styling cues from the now retired Shiverville Raceway and with 199 entries and another nice sunny Florida day everyone had another great race day. Unfortunately a heavy downpour late Thursday night changed everything for Friday’s practice but the Newberry crew was not going to give up yet and spent most of Friday and into the early morning of Saturday to be sure the racers had a great surface to run on Saturday.

Peter Bohman takes Swedish Open Champs title

Peter Bohman takes Swedish Open Champs title

The Swedish Open Championships were held this past weekend in Åtvidaberg in several electric on-road classes. In 1/12th Stock Peter Bohmann took the TQ with the fastest time in the qualifiers from Magnus Hedlund and Per Carlsson. The triple A-mains then were a mixed affair for the top guys as the small track made passing difficult and the back markers would play a significant role also. The opening A-main had Magnus Hedlund coming out successful with Peter Bohman ending in second only a second shy of Magnus. Marcus Andersson finished A1 in third. The second A-main then was an equally tight affair but this time the TQ holder came out fastest from Magnus in second and Per Carlsson in third. In the third and decisive main things got further mixed up with Per taking the win from Magnus and Peter. When the dust settled Peter grabbed the overall win although being tie on points with Magnus but the better tie-breaker handed him the 2016 1/12th Stock title.
