Norwegian Touring Car Championship – Report

Last weekend saw the running of the Norwegian Touring Car Champinship in the small town of Kvinesdal in the South of the country. The race was held on a purpose-built track laid out with the new CRC carpet and using a highspeed layout with some technical bits. The championship is held in a Touring Modified class but also sees the running of a 13.5T Stock support class. In the Touring Modified category Nikolai Haaheim would set the pace from the first lap, being fastest in practice. He would carry his pace through to qualifying, dominating it by TQing all five rounds with his VBC. ARC driver Helge Johannesen was struggelig with setup, but improving through qualifying secured him the 2 spot on the grid in front of Tom Erik Haaversen (Xray).

BRCA GT Nationals Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the BRCA GT national series was held last weekend by Newbury RC Club, A large quite technical track greeted the drivers on Saturday morning, a new challenge for some of the drivers this round was the ETS carpet used. GT10 got underway with Adam Catchpole fast out the blocks but a few errors would see TQ in round 1 go to Rory Hobkirk closely followed by Adam, similar story in round 2 as Mark Barford would set the quickest time. Adam finally found his rhythm in rounds 3 and 4 setting the quickest times in both with a gap to second place of 7.7 seconds.

Liu Rong wins at Lunar New Year Cup

The recent Lunar New Year Cup was held at the Guangzhou Soar Speedway in China. In the Touring Modified class Xray driver Liu Rong would take the overall win from young Alfred Lao (Xray), who came from the 3 spot on the grid and who was able to put a lot of pressure on Liu in the finals. Yokomo driver Chen would round out the podium result in third.

EOS Season finale moved to Germany

EOS Season finale moved to Germany

The Euro Offroad Series is set to finish where it started with the organisers forced to find a replacement venue for the fourth & final round in Austria after issues arose regarding the preparations of the temporary Mattsee venue. Having opened Season #5 with a very popular first visit to the famous Nurburgring racing circuit last September, the EOS will now return to the German venue where the 4WD Buggy Champion will be crowned. Able to retain the original April 29 – May 1 date, the season finale perfectly coincides with Round 2 of the the full size VLN Endurance Championship which will host a 4-hour race on the legendary 20.8km Nordschleife circuit.

Ty Tessmann doubles at Chi-Town Shootout

The annual Chi-Towin Shootout was held this past weekend at Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. As usual the event attracted both local talent as well as nationally and internationally experienced racers, such as Ty Tessmann, Travis Amezcua, JP Richards and others. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class HB/HPI’s Ty Tessmann would take the win in the A-main some four seconds in front of Cole Tollard (Team Associated) and Corey Liebherr (Team Associated). The 4WD Modified Buggy class then again saw Ty taking the win, this time in front of JP Richards (Team Durango) with Brad Shearer rounding out the top 3 result.

Marc Schilling wins at Luxembourg Cup Rd3

The third round of the Luxembourg Cup was held in Mertzig, Luxembourg, attracting both local racers and guest drivers from Germany. In the Touring Modified class the day’s win went to Xray driver Marc Schilling from Patrick Beltrallo (Team C) in second. Joe Streff (Xray) would round out the top 3 result.

Robert Batlle wins Spanish E-Buggy opener

Robert Batlle wins Spanish E-Buggy opener

The opening round of the Spanish 1/8th E-Buggy National Championship was held this past weekend at the RBR36 Arena in Barcelona. Home soil for Robert and Dani Batlle the event would see the two brothers in a fight for the overall win. Dani Batlle (Mugen/Hobbywing) held the upper hand after the qualifiers when he was tie on points with Robert Batlle (Mugen/LRP) and a better tie-breaker handed him the pole position for the triple 10-minute A-mains. Robert though would strike back by taking A1 and A2 in style to grab the overall win early. With a second place in A1 and a win in A3 Bryan Baldo (Mugen/LRP) would secure himself the runner-up spot in front of Dani Batlle who scored two third places. Oscar Baldo (Mugen/LRP), coming from the 7 spot on the grid, would round the “family affair” top 4.

Dominic Vogl joins VBC Racing

VBC Racing have announced the signing of Dominic Vogl to their team. The 2015 Austrian Touring Modified national champion joins a growing European team and he has the following to say about the deal:
